Range Pants?

I wear shorts too when it's hot, but like long pants when doing stuff where I'm shooting from the kneeling position. The range I go to is outdoors and you set up your own targets to run whatever drills you want. It's a little different than a typical outdoor or indoor range. Stretch jeans are the only kind I wear. I was hoping to find something similar but lighter material. I ordered a couple things with free returns off amazon so I'll see if anything works.

I used to always wear jeans but then I discovered Wrangler Authentic Men's Classic Twill Relaxed Fit Cargo Pants. I pasted the entire name because they also make a rip stop cotton cargo pants, which I despise because they “swish” when you walk.

Amazon carries these pants for around $25 a pair.
Wrangler Authentics Men's Classic Twill Relaxed Fit Cargo Pant, Olive Drab, 36W x 32L https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FVRA2A4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ppcuEbKNVE75J

My favorites are the khaki colored ones on hot days.
These pants are roomy but not baggy. The cargo pockets also have cell phone pockets on both sides. I wear these pants at work and at home. Very comfortable on hot days and warm enough on cool days.

Most of them are too tight on my thighs anyway

I have some Wranglers and some Levis. I'll never go back to regular jeans.

541 are the athletic fit Levi's. A weightlifting buddy told me about them a few years back. They have the lower waist and bigger thighs. Only Jeans I can wear.

As to the OP. I have some midway, some blackhawk, and some 5.11 tactical pants. All work fine. The Blackhawk are my favorite.
I also wear under armour black uniform pants. They fit great, and move great and lack all the extra pockets. They arent cool by any means though.

unfortunately, some of us are NOT kneeling - not if we want to minimize pain and be able to get back up!.................:p:thumbup:

I wear the same Walmart Wrangler khakis to the range that I wear most other places.
Walmart has quit carrying them, they were a Walmart specific item, dammit.

Whatever you normally wear. There is a saying in the military "Train like you fight." If your goal of going to the range is get better at defensive shooting, why not wear what you would be dressed in a regular day? Another aspect is you probably already pack enough stuff in your range bag to bring, and likely forget. Adding change into range pants to the list is an add on to make the range more of a chore.

Who are these gents and in what country.
Lol. I browse the forum by “New Post, and in this thread ‘this photo is at the top of page 2 when I scroll up to hit new posts.

My first guess is the Rhodesian Light Infantry circa 1970s. South Africa employed such a combat uniform during that period as well.

I wear normal stuff if I'm practicing certain drills. I don't walk around town with an AR, gun belt and PC so that's why I was looking for something more for the range and that I could also use hiking. I wouldn't change into them at the range, I'd just put them on in the morning.

LA Police Gear operator pants with expandable waist band. I wear them daily for work and own a pair for hiking and hunting or working in the yard. 5.11 are too crotch hugging for me. I also picked up some bass pro zip off pants I wore this summer hiking, fishing and camping. Very, very comfy. I like to be comfy at the range so if its hot I am wearing shorts and T shirt or the cargo pants.

I just head to the range in whatever I'm wearing. In the winter and fall that's jeans, in the summer it's shorts.

But if you want cooler pants, look into nylon fishing pants. Sometimes they zip off at the knees, but I have some that don't zip off either. I wear them when I'm fishing in areas where I know I'll have to walk through a lot of nettles, but they're very lightweight and breathe and dry faster than cotton does.

I swore off jeans. Most of them are too tight on my thighs anyway (please, refrain from snorting. The bicycle as well as my genetic composition dictates this wardrobe).

You need to try some of the stretch jeans. Not only the waist band, but the entire pants flex and give. They don't have to have a baggy fit to be able to move in them and they don't stretch out of shape after a days wear. I've worn the same pair for 3-4 days and they still look good. I have some Wranglers and some Levis. I'll never go back to regular jeans.

Mauser lover, jmr40 is right. I've got a stocky build to begin with, and doing squats and deadlifts makes my thighs fit tightly in most jeans but I recently discovered those stretchy jeans myself. You'd never know they're not regular jeans until you put them on, but dang they're comfortable! Most of mine are Lee's, I wear them to work every day in a professional office environment.

Um... If they are stretching, they are against my leg... I'm not worried about constriction with stretchy jeans, but I still don't like the feel of having something tight against my leg all the way around.

Claustrophobia, that's what it is! (Joking)

Plus, I'd have to admit to wearing stretchy jeans! I've also gotten used to having the extra pockets.
