So yesterday my friend and I took our 7.62's out for a little range time.
Me-LAR-8 7.62x51
Him-Mosin-nagant 91/30 7.62x54R
We stopped at Cabela's and i got 4 boxes of wolf, 2 of those green and yellow boxes that i just call L&B, 2 Winchester white box, and a 50 round box of stuff called magtech.
After we did some rounds through the mosin, we started doing drills with my LAR-8. We were going more for speed than accuracy with a holographic red-dot sight. The reloaded winchester white box stuff was pretty decent. The wolf ammo was great. The Czech L&B ammo was good. The Magtech (imported from Brazil) had 2 dented primers, 15 failure to feed, 9 failure to eject, and one case that got stuck up in the barrel! I shot the different ammo types all out of order so it wasn't the gun being dirty or anything. It was really my first experience with ammo like that and it was so frustrating! I was shouting "Brazilian garbage!" all morning.
Besides the Magtech Brazilian garbage everything went smooth and reaffirmed my decision to buy that rifle. Great, fun day at the range.
Has anyone else had problems with certain brands of ammo you can warn the rest of us about?
