Well I got the HK USP Compact .40 that I have been drooling over today and threw some lead down range - about 220- 250 rounds.
I've gatta say I'm real torn, because now I feel that I don't need any other pistols : )
I love my XD Compact & XD Sub Compact, and I'd give them a solid 8 on a 1-10 scale. But the HK USPc gets a 10 so far.

1-
Not only is this gun accurate ( I was often able to group shots within an inch at 7 & 10 yards while speed drawing ) it also has less snap than the XDs. and is not as loud - both are .40 cal.
2-
I love the decocker/safety because I can go locked and cocked in single action like a 1911, or decock and carry in DA/SA - and kick on the safety while decocked in DA/SA as well if I feel the need. Very versatile indeed. The safety switch is also well placed and operates just like a 1911, making it very user friendly - not like those safeties that are placed on the slides....
3-
It did not miss a beat, and after having had bought a Wilson that turned out to be a dud and then a Taurus PT145 I have been very skittish about new pistols on both ends of the spectrum.... This one is off to a promising start, and once I get 1,000 through it I will carry it most of the time.
4-
It also points very well. I'm able to draw the weapon and acquire a fast sight picture - allowing me to execute some well placed shots in under two seconds total.
5-
As far as size goes it is slightly longer and taller than my XD Subcompact (about 1/2 inch), but it seems to be a touch thinner. I actually like this, because when carrying IWB at 5 O'clock it puts the grip up just right allowing me to get a fast grasp without my pants and belt getting in the mix. My XD subcompact rides a little low, so I grab pants and belt sometimes, and my XD compact is just a little large for my taste. The HK is right in between the two, and is perfect.
6-
I also love the ergonomics of this weapon. It feels great in my hand, and the texture on the sides along with the checkered front and back make for a great grip.
7-
Closing... I can't say enough about this pistol. If you're looking for a great home defense / CCW this one deserves to be looked at. It is known to be highly reliable, it's accurate, has lots of safety features without compromising functionality, is very ergonomic, and under $900.
What's not to love?

I love mine! It has the LEM trigger and, once you get used to it, works very well for it's intended purpose - defense. I typically max our quarterly qual course with it, or my issued P2000. :D

I got the USP .45 compact in May and I really like the gun. The v1 is a good choice for carry - giving you options - and is fine for the range. My P2000 9mm has the LEM trigger and it is a great carry gun. I know they have a higher bore axis than a glock or a 1911, but I experience very little muzzle flip with my HKs.

I've been debating getting one of these to add to the winter carry rotation. Your report is weakening my resistance!

How was the trigger on it? After a couple hundred rounds, I've found that I do not like the trigger on my USP (wondering if it's an isolated thing).

Yup... one USPc is not enough. I have two and am this close to getting a third. Call me crazy.

The single action is the best of any poly gun I've felt, and I've felt them all I think.
The double action is much stiffer than I would like, and I am considering looking in to getting a trigger job to lighten the tension on the DA.

The DA is solid, smooth, and consistent - just heavier than I would like. I'll get it adjusted to taste, and I'm happy knowing I have the best semi made IMO.

Mine has been very boring. It works every time. The only problem I've had with it is my wife likes it too much. I think it's her's now. Oh well, good excuse to find another.

My USPc (LEM trigger) was my first gun ever and was trained to carry it "cocked and locked" before I even knew what that meant. It was several months before I even realized it could even operate in DA. Why would you ever need or want to use it DA?

Is your USPc different in some way? With no exposed hammer and no decocker just how do you decock it anyway?

Just curious.

Edit: I erred when I wrote "no exposed hammer." Of course it has an exposed hammer, but it's "bobbed" and doesn't lend itself well to manually decocking. Is that what you're doing?

I have a .40compact LEM, and it doesn't have a safety lever. You just point and click. Although not something I would recommend, you can lower the hammer and put in into heavy DA mode, but the LEM is very nice for self defense purposes.

v35,
How do you cock and lock an LEM? Isn't the LEM's hammer always down unless the trigger is pulled?

I hate my HK. They woek all the time and I have put my other guns away. I have gone to the P2K in 40 as my carry gun. I want a 357 Sig and will probaly get one in that caliber.

My, my, that sure is a good lookin' gun, skud_dusty...
Looks alot like this one :D :

Great gun so far, and the trigger has gotten a little smoother with shooting, too.
Hang on to that color framed model. I think they quit making them for now.

Love mine too. They are 9mm usp and .40s&w usp compact stainless.

That's one of the main reasons I picked her up, I hear the non-evil-black models are kind of hard to get/limited quantity.

I already want to get a compact for easier carry :neener:
