Got out to the range this morning for a little bit. Shot my Pietta Smith Carbine.

This target was shot at 50 yards, seated using 28 grains of Goex 2FG, 515 bullet lubed with SPG in a plastic case.

I had a few fliers (me, not the gun). I have shot better with this gun. Had not shot it in a few weeks, so was a little rusty.

As always, a hoot to shoot!

I remember when I first started shooting in black powder competition. Smiths were fairly common on the line, along with Burnsides, Sharps, and others. And muzzleloaders of course. Good shooting carbines as I remember. They were one of the first carbines offered as replicas.

Years ago, one of my shooting buddies found an origional Smith Carbine in pristine condition in the attic of a recently deacesed relative.
He found some cartridge cases somewhere, Dixie Gun Works maybe, and I duplicated them from Brass bar stock with great success.
Don't know what ever happened to the rifle.
Fun to shoot though.
