As a carpenter, this forced day off is uncomfortable, unnerving, and as a poor broke dad, unwelcome.

None the less, as remedy to boredom, there is shooting!

As a responsible citizen it is my duty to comply with “respectful requests” to avoid crowds and get out and enjoy the out doors!

I’m helping!:)

So, to further help my friends that are lurch, I present a small range report and meager pictures to curb their cabin fever and entice them to the make the trip to the woods, if they are able.

Or maybe just rub it in a bit!:neener:

So live vicariously, my friends, but live!

I headed out at ten, to be courteous to any afflicted neighbors.
I’ve been practicing point shooting after reading some of @LiveLife’s posts. Both eyes open while walking around in front of the rack.
Not good at it, super fun anyway.:)
Found a few cartridges like this one.

And I found five like this one. I didn’t try it four or five times spinning it to a new spot, like the others. 2FB81CA8-2DA8-4373-A55A-FF3ECAB8D509.jpeg

Dang bulk...;)

Anyway, it’s only thirty degrees down in the swamp, so a half box was all I could do before my hands got cold. No gloves for me, they keep getting stuck in the magazines.

Im going back out this afternoon when it gets a bit warmer. Then I can set still and get some paper targets from my AR.
To post for your viewing enjoyment!:D

Anyone else not going to be stuck inside?
Let’s hear what your shooting. Where did you go? Any new spots of seclusion?

I was just out back shooting one of my 45s. Luckily I live on a dead end road up against a big ridge so I shoot daily. I've been trying the both eyes open drill too. Kind of uncomfortable but I'm getting better. I have an average of 2 22 lr like the one you showed for every 60 rounds I shoot in my Ruger MK IV 22/45. Maybe one out of 4 will fire if tried again.

As mentioned, and without further ado...
The AR Targets!
I post them all, big or small!:)

The hold. A bipod that I realized I put on backward after I got a few rounds down range.
Not as nice as my Sinclair.;)

The first zero.
Um, after I put a few though it. Took a minute to get it from the perspective at the picnic tab... I mean, bench.

My handloads.
Always disappointing when Fiocchi FMJ shoots better than the last box I made...:(

A new zero. And more disappointment...
Not really!:p
A Voo-Doo Melonited 5.56 barrel and a 50grn Z-Max at the maximum devastation load!
Two-ish MOA as fast as I can get red is fine. I nearly forgot how fun it was to shoot an AR!
I have all day for ( laundry, single dad) cleaning cases tomorrow and loading up a new ladder for the 80grn EldMs in my Bolt Action. Then a whole lot more little guys for the AR!
Woohoo! :)
The heat coming off the barrel, the mirage at just a hundred yards from the heat, the powder soot diverted from my Yankee Hill muzzle brake, filling my new Range Box that I forgot to shut. The smell of cheap powder that, evidently, is more accurate than my load of TAC...

I even found mushrooms!

The deadliest kind...

:)

Surely some else has gone out today...

Hopefully they brought more rounds than I did...:D

Hows the cabin look?

No recoveries today. No snow...

At six hundred and fourty yards there is a sixteen inch plate that my son and I just painted white the other day.
He covered a nice tight group of BTHPs and a few random strikes from a loading of 75 grain A-Max’s.

It’s out there...
I hope the 80s longer bearing surface will have more to offer me...

Now that's good for the blood pressure! Your range is in a beautiful setting.

Yes it is! Eden on Earth.
I wish it were mine! The owner of the company is extraordinarily generous. She lets me shoot, in exchange for the upkeep. When it starts costing her money it will be sold. So, I’m on borrowed time as it is. I take every trip as the gift it is.:)

But then again, aren’t we all?

Depriming brass tonight! A lot of it! I have a lot of my target rounds ready to load, but that is better for the morning.

If this is isolation, I’ll take it!

My shooting is over for the time being. Our governor closed all non essential businesses and our gun club is considered non essential. Closed for the next month.

My state is shut down until April 10th as of now. I can't shoot anything more than an air gun at home anymore because too many people have discovered the joys of country living and moved in too close to me. I can always drive west to state and BLM land but it would be a waste of gasoline and ammo considering how hard the wind is blowing and is supposed to continue to blow for the rest of the week. Eventually I'll get a fairly decent day and a shooting I will go.

I hope you do. I feel a bit guilty. But I was at the end of my rope at work so, a relief, an expensive one, but one I’ll not waste.

I did some more two- eyes-open shooting today. Like throwing darts, once you get the hang of it. I heard plinks today. With the Buckmark and PT-92.

Between yesterday and today that’s one more box through my, now favorite, Buckmark. I lost count, 3500 or so.
No problems, save for the three more “duds” and one stovepipe today from the M22. For the price, I’ll not whine...:)

I’m liking my new tool box range bag, @NIGHTLORD40K .:)

I made a portable rifle plate today as well.

Day Two...

The laundry is caught up. We washed the windows.
Mini Amazon is learning archery and little Bear is reading, albeit slowly.
I’ve placed snares in the yard for small game.
The perimeter is secured.
The moat around the shop is done and filled with gators.
I’ve ordered a Lee APP and should have the gun turret built on the house by the time it gets here.
If I can scrounge some lumber!:D
I should have ordered some Nine millimeter dies...

Stay busy friends!:)

Thought I was the only one that got the "pew pew" idea for the totally extra time off [ I am retired :) ].

It was a day to T&E the new higher cap magazines that fit the Glock 43X [ 15 rounds instead of the 10 that it came with ].

Replaced the mag release with a metal one as suggested [ good idea ] and then ran about 140+ rounds of assorted through her at the local range that is really close to my house [ takes longer to load the truck than to drive over ].

She is still a bit snappy for a 9mm,but I had the range all to myself so could do a few draw & shoot and move & shoot drills.

The gun and mag's ran perfectly and I did pretty good for an old fart.

Now I need to get the Harley out as this weather is pretty warm for this time of year up here [ Western New York State ] ,and NO this is not even close to the city [ 420 miles away ].

We belong to an outdoor gun club about an hour outside of Chicago which is open, but group activities are cancelled as is the option to bring guests. It was warm yesterday for this time of year, so I went with my youngest son. On the way there we stopped at a fantastic barbecue place, which we always do, and ate in the car as carryout and delivery are the two options for restaurants now. We spoke with their employee for a few minutes and they're barely hanging on, so if you're in the position to do so make an effort to support your local restaurants.

There were about 20 people at the club and we had a 25 yard bay to ourselves. We shot at a metal target and a couple of empty milk cartons. My son shot our Mark IV and did great, hitting the target consistently. I shot my Dan Wesson 9mm Guardian as well as three CZ's, a PCR, SP01 and Phantom and a Sig P320RX. Lately it seems like every range trip was for a purpose, such as sighting in red dots sights I installed on a couple of guns or making sure new magazines or a carry gun are functioning. Other than making sure the SIg was sighted in as they had to replace the red dot, we shot for the fun of it which was a nice change of pace. Our gun club is the only thing we do that's open, so we'll be spending a lot of time there.

I will not make it to the range today. :(

I have my Remington 597 in the truck, but it will be too dark by the time I get around.
I have some ammunition to load for tomorrow, but I’ll have to get a second coat on the floor before I use them.;)

But I promise to go tomorrow, and take a bunch of pictures, for those of you that can’t go.

Uh oh, I wonder if my seating stem will work with the ELDs? Maybe that was the problem with the old A-Max’s I tried...

Oops! Time for homework with the kids first!

Currently, I'm still "essential personnel", but we've slowed down a little (guess people don't need car repairs so much when there's nowhere to go). So I did get off a couple hours early today. Breezy and almost 70 degrees, so I put about 300 rounds downrange. No pics though. Not trying to brag...or get made fun of, whichever.

Instead of getting a scope for my 22 pistol I went the other way and made an 8.5X11 sized blow up of a Corona virus specimen on the printer. Tried it and found they make dandy targets. So yes I took out my frustrations out by shooting several of those nasty viruses. Wish it was this easy in real time though.:( Shoot well.

Not around here you won’t!
THR ain’t like that...:)

My personal best is an eleven inch group at one hundred, standing, 450Bushmaster AR.

Not a record breaker by far, still my favorite one...
