Same everything except goal was to empty 3 mags in under a minute. Not rapid fire but not fully taking my time.

guess people don't need car repairs so much when there's nowhere to go).
Same here, worked 3 hours monday, Wednesday and thursday- off Tuesday and today and no appointments Monday so I'm in Tuesday morning. Can't hit the range - all closed around here and if I don't go to work I stay home with my littles (ones almost 1, the other almost 3) . My wife works at the hospital and has been busy. But I'm loading in the evenings so I'll have a good pile saved up when the world reopens...

@Demi-human

I like that model of Buck Mark.

I saw it when I went in to pick up a Dan Wesson Silverback I bought.
I had to have it.
Done.
The one time I got a great deal at the outfitters here in town. Then, because I bought the rimfire, he waived the transfer fee.

Good times.

Hornady red, anyone? I took this in case I forgot when I finished the second coat. I did.:)
But, I digress...

I made only ten rounds this morning. I am dissatisfied with the seating stem and the Eld nose profile. I have honed this one for the 75grn BTHPs so I have ordered another from Brownells. I was getting nose deformation, resulting in depth variation of more than a hundredth.:(
I played with the setting with two rounds, but called it fruitless...
The target speaks for the bullets. They don’t like the stem. Two distinct groups. Some were lined with graphite to curb the nose squash. It made a huge mess and was abandoned.

I believe the smaller four, on the bullseye, were the long ones. The nose squish having less effect at a hundred than the slight loading into the lands, which I think matches the ogive perfectly. BTHPs seat eight thousandths deeper to miss the lands.
The higher group, being seated away and providing less pressure, was not as tight, seemingly out of the velocity node.
But that’s all speculation!:D

I brought my Remington as well.
Very accurate. Smooth trigger. Handles nice.
Completely and utterly boring. I had a whole box of red, white and blue CCI supers, but only loaded the mags once. 56 rounds.
I don’t understand why she doesn’t appeal to me.
It’s not her, it’s me...

Gorgeous day! Spring cleaning is underway!

with my littles (ones almost 1, the other almost 3) .

Aww. Rimfires!:)

So far we haven't dropped off completely, but we're not buried like we normally are this time of year. I work in a small shop, and basically do all the stuff that isn't brakes/suspension/tires...so I do have plenty of stuff lined up, just not an abundance.

I work for a small shop too, only the owner and myself. We do some race cars, some vintage resto (mechanical) stuff and commuter cars (the bread and butter) but I finished all my winter projects and there was still snow here a couple days ago so the oldies are still in storage. We are at a stand still.

We are at a stand still

I do hate hearing that. I know some of the other local shops were struggling already with the after Christmas-before tax season lull. They've been hit pretty hard now. Hopefully you've got something in place to help out in the lean times. I'm a flat rate guy, so if there's no work, there's no money. We did get 3 Sheriff's Dept cruisers towed in between last night and when I left today and I've got a couple of engines to do. If it gets really bad, I'll work on mowers, tractors, boats...whatever.

Hopefully you get some loading done and get some trigger time soon though.

I'm a salary guy, I'll get paid either way. The shop is in an industrial park and overhead is low, we'll make it through. I am loading a couple nights a week so I figure if I load all the brass I've got I should be sitting on 3000 357s, 800 454 casull :what:, 1000 45 colt, 1000+ 45-70s, 1000+/- 30-30 . plus whatever's already loaded. I have the powder, brass and bullets but I may run out of primers. Hopefully we can get back to normal before that happens.then finding time for the range will be the hard part...

So much for range therapy. I just received an e-mail from our gun club that they’re closing it completely until April 7, and possibly longer depending on what our governor decides. It looks like my air soft gun is going to get a workout in my basement.

Demi-human: nice photos, yard, woods, gun etc.

And we never imagined gators (in your moat) living in Michigan. You now should buy a Brazilian jaguar to hunt them, as they do very well with caimans in B. jungle rivers.

When we flew Cat 1 or 2 approaches into DTW, GRR, AZO etc to minimums (1800 or 1200 'rvr'), I never imagined what was hibernating underneath in January.

My son talked me into leaving the house yesterday. He brought his RPR to chrono some Varget loads.

i brought my AR. I hadn't shot it in a long time and wanted to verify the aimpoint pro was still sighted in.

a couple other people showed up but we all politely kept our distance.

Okay. So I felt a little guilty shooting all week at the cabin. I don’t want to annoy the neighbors. And it was raining. But I didn’t have anything else to do.
My ship is run tight.

So...

I took a spin out through the HayMarsh!

A river runs through it.

The dam.

A great day for it, too!
It was funny though, I went out there to get away from humans and ended up talking to, like, seven.(From a safe distance...:p
Seriously though, I can not be a vector. I live with everyone who is in the danger groups! I have to be careful!)(sigh)

It was so nice out there. After the fishing kids left, and I had my fill of blissful peace, I set out the good old Champion Plinker Rack.

I took out my 597. To see if maybe I can learn to like it.;)
It did not disappoint. Perfect. And that’s what bugs me. I can do nothing to her. She doesn’t miss. She balances just right, doesn’t feel cheap, per se. There aren’t any decent aftermarket mods, because it just works. The trigger is even nice.
I feel like a jerk not loving her more...
:D
F0F10FA7-C1BF-46CC-9587-466325F29076.jpeg See, it’s out there.

Ready!

I took the PT-92 out again. Also wonderful. I love everything about this design. Save for the double /single action trigger. But I use it as a 1911 anyway.

And I haven’t been just playing...

Now, that, is Hornady Red!
( I’m a nerd, I can’t wait to do laundry in here!)

I was hoping some of you other gentle humans could post some range pictures this week.

There must be some other lucky, and completely grateful for it:), souls that have a place to make noise!
Post up! There are hapless humans that are stuck, immobile, hindered, and otherwise “without range”.
Don’t leave our friends in a lurch! Give them something to look forward to!

As for the rest of us...
You’d better have spotless firearms, lubed and ready, at the word go. So, hop to it!:D
I'm doing the same tonight...

Right now, I think I can get another six hundred square feet of Bluegrass right in here...

Darn.

I just couldn’t get a break today.

And this is the worst part... 8057A0F5-9CF1-40F5-9141-6675895B9413.jpeg

He will just have to wait out the rain.:(
Me too. I feel bad letting him down.

I did order a new seating stem for my die.
And I just now realized I should have one that fits in my .224 Valkyrie dies set...
Oh well.
Sunday is a day off I guess.:)

Be well!

As a carpenter, this forced day off is uncomfortable, unnerving, and as a poor broke dad, unwelcome.

None the less, as remedy to boredom, there is shooting!

As a responsible citizen it is my duty to comply with “respectful requests” to avoid crowds and get out and enjoy the out doors!

I’m helping!:)

So, to further help my friends that are lurch, I present a small range report and meager pictures to curb their cabin fever and entice them to the make the trip to the woods, if they are able.

Or maybe just rub it in a bit!:neener:

So live vicariously, my friends, but live!

I headed out at ten, to be courteous to any afflicted neighbors.
I’ve been practicing point shooting after reading some of @LiveLife’s posts. Both eyes open while walking around in front of the rack.
Not good at it, super fun anyway.:)
Found a few cartridges like this one.
View attachment 901737

And I found five like this one. I didn’t try it four or five times spinning it to a new spot, like the others.View attachment 901738

Dang bulk...;)

Anyway, it’s only thirty degrees down in the swamp, so a half box was all I could do before my hands got cold. No gloves for me, they keep getting stuck in the magazines.

Im going back out this afternoon when it gets a bit warmer. Then I can set still and get some paper targets from my AR.
To post for your viewing enjoyment!:D

Anyone else not going to be stuck inside?
Let’s hear what your shooting. Where did you go? Any new spots of seclusion?
Sorry to hear you're not working. My youngest is a plumber on new construction in central Florida - still working 6 days/weeks, no time to shoot his AR

And it’s probably above 40 degrees outside, too.
Rub it in!
:D
We get out bid by a not very reputable company often and make a fine living off returning a year later to repair all the corners they cut. Still, I would love some new construction!

Little Bear was mopey yesterday, so we got his Red Rascal out and an Eezox cloth and gave it a good coat.
No matter the weather today, we men are going out!
He learned that, with proper care and preparation, we need not wait on the weather for fun. We have our Muck boots out and ready.
We are shooting today!
Well, mostly him.
I want to walk back and haul out another maple chunk for my lathe. I’m learning how to turn bowls.

Right now, I’m going to the dungeon to see if the Valkyrie seating stem is the same as my .223, if it is, I’ll need to order another ELD stem...

It does have an ELD stem. I may have to pull it out and use it on the .223 today.
It it ever so slight, but it does contact the bullet lower on the ogive. Probably just enough to get it past the hollow that the tip is pressed into.

I wonder too, if the old A-Maxs I’m using have the small void below he tip to initiate expansion. If so, that is why my BTHP seating stem is extruding the tips and leaving me to jam the rifling.

And it’s probably above 40 degrees outside, too.
Rub it in!

We've been hitting 90 the last few days, but nights are a very comfy mid 60s, so time to open the windows at night before it gets too hot all the time

It snowed today...:(

Just falling, not staying.
We went anyway.
21C8B4AD-5DB0-4263-AB9C-7ADA8780DC1B.jpeg
Pics beforehand, no pics shooting. I’m too paranoid for that.

We had our Double Deuces out today.
Another empty box of Red, White and Blue CCIs went in the fire pit.;)
You can just make out the long target at the very edge on the left.

“Are we going to shoot that?” He asked.
“Nope!” :D“Buddy, that’s way to far for these...”
“Well, someday I’ll get it.”
:)
That made me proud right there!

We had a great day.
We’re going out tomorrow, too! He said so.
“So everyone doesn’t get bored from not living in Michigan.”

I don’t know how that works, but I’ll take it.

I went the other way and made an 8.5X11 sized blow up of a Corona virus specimen on the printer.

Why does the news always show a picture of the virus? What is that? Some kind of mugshot? Are we all supposed to whip out our microscopes?

I have more than a dozen steel targets on the 3 ranges at my ranch and tons of ammo for unsocial distancing,..

Nice photos up there.

>The river bank for health<. Almost every club/shooting range here is closed. The superb club MSSA I belong to, 12 min. away, is the best within over 200 miles.
The single, open range nearby requires you to buy their frangible ammo. The semi-rural riverbank does Not require specific ammo. It's a safe area.

Demi-human: it's readily apparent that the boy has received good training.

I'm still waiting on the wind to settle down some. Can't go to the gunshop either. The guv just issued a statement today that she didn't care what Trump though about them being essential, they would remain closed. I've been busy in the shop building gun stuff. I got a blank glued up for a benchrest fore end for my contender rifle and got started on another set of 1911 grips while waiting on glue to dry. I found a solid piece of walnut on the internet that would have made the fore end but after seeing the price I decided I could glue up wood I had sitting around plus I had the glue so it's basically a freebie except for some labor. It's just something I will use for load development and then I'll return to the factory fore end.

I'll have to take a break this week and break out the lawnmower. The weeds are getting tall.

When I was going under self quarantine, the first thing I did was hit the supermarket, then the liquor store... then when I made it home, got the kid in bed, and was sampling my newly acquired Bruichladdich (I highly recommend: Unpeated Islay)
When it hit me, and went right to Amazon to get the two things my basement required: Crossman 1377 & steel pellet trap... Didn't foresee the run on **** tickets; but I know what poison Ivey look like.

Well, now I'm stuck here for the foreseeable future...and my house is contaminated! Not with the Kung Flu, but Lead in the basement. When this is all over I'm going to have to do major remediation with a push broom! Pellet pieces everywhere. The 1377 was a good call...shooting the RWS 34 & Diana 430L not so much. .177 vs AR500 = splatter

Cheers and Stay healthy!
