I stopped in to see how the inventory was and there on the shelf was Blazer aluminum 158gr JHP 357mag ammo. This is the first 357 other than SD I've seen in 9 months. Its going for 52 cents a round before taxes for those who are curious.

An interesting observation was Winchester 55gr 5.56 was $11.99 for a box of 20 and their 62 grain 5.56 was $9.99.

Geeze...........just drive to DFW. We got plenty of ammo at WalMart, Academy and Cabelas.

I've seen the same three boxes of Federal .357 sitting at the WalMart on North Forest in McKinney for a month now.

sure and as soon as I make the 600 mile trip they will have nothing. Then again I haven't been shopping in awhile and I need some new shoes and outfits for spring.

I was in our local WalMart a few days ago and they had a big pile of American Eagle .50 BMG! Blew my mind.

QoT, Doesn't it make you feel a little sheepish to be posting current prices for ammo that 6 months ago you swore up and down wouldn't be seen again?

$9.97 a box you say.....well, thats same as before this last panic.

Just saying....maybe inundating the board with the same rehashed ammo threads is a waste of bandwidth at this point, unless there is some new info on .22lr.

Well try this. 52 cents a round with 50 rounds in a box does not equal your $9.97. Oh wait you over looked most of the thread and are refering to the prices on the 5.56 Winchester that were priced strange. After all one would think 62 grain M855 would cost more than the 55gr offering. Just thinking someone might want to take advantage of said pricing if they knew about it. Then again you don't want that heads up giving the posts of some in this thread.

Still none here unless I want to frequent my local WM every morning before 7AM and "hope" the employee(s) hasn't/haven't told their friends when it's coming out. Even then, they only get a tiny bit once every week or two. No thanks!!

Went to Walmart today, and they had tons, and I mean tons, of 9 mm. I haven't been seeing that much lately, and before, it was all plinking ammo. Cheap Rem UMC ammo and the like. I should have stocked up, because now it's all pricey jhp stuff that I haven't seen in awhile.

I understand all these companies do ammo in runs, rather than producing everything at all times, but it's almost as if they are synchronizing when they come out with certain stuff. Don't see .38 for a few months, suddenly there's 4 brands of it at every store, then suddenly it's scare again....

I haven't seen any shortage of 38 special or 357 magnum. These rounds are selling for $25-30 a box so there doesn't seem to be a hoarding mentality like with the cheaper rounds.

Check the sales figures. There's a lot less revolvers sold than autos. 6 gunners shoot less, and more of them reload. So the demand for revolver ammo is less, especially for the magnum rounds.

I agree with the 357 mag and higher end 38spl statement. It's more expensive and folks are just buying what they need. However, WM doesn't always have it or they do in one store and not in another locally.

I probably have close to 1000 rounds of middle grade 357 mag on hand. So, I'm pretty comfortable and haven't been buying even when I see it.

One strange thing I have seen is Remington Cor-Lokt 30-06 and 308 ammo has gone up $3-$4 a box. But Winchester Super-X hasn't. $23.97 as opposed to 19.97. 22lr comes and goes here. One day there's 4000+ rounds on the shelf and will sit there a week. Then nothing for a month.

One thing I've been noticing is this seems to be real regional with what is out and what is not.
