I've recently gotten an RCBS 1500 Combo and I'm wondering about making sure it runs right. So far, out of the box it does amazingly well on most powders. Some of the flake powders are off a bit. I read threads about preparing powder measures with baffles, treating all the parts with graphite, etc. should this sort of drill be done to a chargemaster?

The Chargemaster runs great right out of the box. The steps you mentioned are intended for manual powder measures, not this one.

We have three RCBS Chargemasters set up in our loading lab. Since installing them we seldom use any of our other measures. Bench Rest shooters have also begun using them and they are a tough crowd to please.
Shoot well, often, and safely...

I too have a brand new RCBS ChargeMaster 1500 sitting here in its
original box, never used; but I haven't handload in a long while. I
hear that its ever-so-slow, delivering small grains of handgun type
powders; is this fact, of merely fiction~? I would like too know~? :uhoh:

Fast enough for me. I can pour a charge in the brass , press dispense (set on auto), seat that bullet and by the time I've seated the bullet, the next charge is usually waiting for me in the pan.

I have had my Chargemaster for 3 years and it is just as accrate today as it was on day one. The only special precaution I have taken is to run the power supply thru a Line Conditioner. The Line Conditioner ( a Uninteruptable Power Supply will also work) insures the voltage supplied to the unit is within + or - 2 volts of 116 Volts.
