Wife let me order a new progressive for Xmas, so I can retire the Loadmaster, that required constant attention and the only blown primer I've had in twenty yrs of loading.

Got Gander Mtn to match Walmart.com's online price of 501.00 / free ship / and no tax, plus a 50.00 rebate brings it down to 450 to the door.

It is way heavier than I was expecting with its cast iron frame. Got it set up and mounted to an Inline Fabrication Mount in about 30 minutes. Just need the shell holders to get here so I can make a test run. Already have a bench mount APS primer so it will be great to prime on press too.

Took about a week to get thru all the posts I found from GWStarr and Peter Eick....Thanks for all the great info.

Looks like a great, solid piece of equipment. And I love the five-station setup, makes room for an RCBS lockout die, one of the greatest inventions for reloading EVER!

That color green has always been my favorite color. My Rock Chucker is going on 40+ years, and my Piggy back II is going on 25 years. Never had a problem with either.

Edit: Actually I did have a few slight problems with the Piggy Back II, however RCBS replaced the parts after they wore out due to use. About a year ago I upgraded the Uniflow ppowder drop to a RCBS Case Activated Linkage, one of the smartest things I've done in quite awhile.

Great Press--I have been loading on the manual PRO 2000 for about 14 yrs. Once you get it figured out, it is the most trouble free and the easiest to use progressive out there, really solid built. I have bought and tried others, finally got this one, never wanted to try another. I am not a fan of auto indexing, and if it don`t work for you, you can always change it to manual. You are gonna love, NOT having to chase around primers with a pick-up tube. RCBS CS is outstanding. Nice going

love my pro2000, i see you got the strong mount! do yourself a huge huge favor and get the ergo lever too!
and i second the lockout die, followed by a powder cop for rifle cartridges.

im really on the fence about buying the auto index upgrade. your opinions?

Yay! Great mount. Rcbs really over builds that thing. It will last for generations.

Other than a Dillon 450 back in the 70's, the only progressives i have used were auto index (Loadmaster, Hornady LNL) and would not go back to manual. Just one more thing to do on every stroke. Have a powder cop from the Loadmaster that I bought used and ergo handle is already on order from Inline. Have the handle on my LCT and have used the short one on a LNL, much more comfortable than the ball.

I've got the bench mounted APS primer already, had about 30 strips and press came with another 30 or so. Also ordered some with the shell plates from bullets.com since they were only 3.81 a pack on closeout. Have always loaded my own strips, retired two yrs ago, so I got plenty of time!

Sounds like you've got it all wrapped up, man! Excellent choices all around!

got myself an early x-max present too, just purchased the upgrade lol, wallet be damned. i've started turning green, so ive got more than enough green stuff to qualify for the rebate, too. loving the sales from RCBS, let me upgrade my reloading setup for the price of Lee stuff, now after a lot of experience I'm learning has reached its limits..

enjoy your press, man!
i love mine, it feels like a tank, swiss watch, and an ak47 had a love baby. :D

Congrats! I predict you will like it! So very versatile, simple, built like a tank, great powder measure, and such a pretty color! :D

use the second station for your case mouth/ powder drop. Use the permanent 3 rd station for your powder cop die.

I have been having problems,s with APS primer that on the first one the shaft gets hung up. It's been back to RCBS and it's still problems.

Probably need to just use it more.

Swoope try cleaning out the aps strip area with either compressed air, or get in there with a nylon small brush. I've found it can be sensitive to powder spills, especially extruded powders.
If none of that works, try adjusting the metal post towards the plastic shoe, it may be that the plastic shoe has worn or its just set up improperly.
