Ill be reloading my brass i shot in my scar federal american eagle 168 gr otm (m1a on box).
I know ive heard that that particular fc brass is softer than true nato brass and wanted opinions on if its worth buying x dies to not have to trim. Also any tips on die use.
Thanks for your help...

Those X dies are not popular with people wanting best accuracy.

If you use a regular full length die set right in your press, you don't need to trim every time a case is resized. One every 6 or 7 reloads with a bolt gun. Your semiauto SCAR 17 won't let you get more than 5 reloads per case; 3 to 4 is normally best for safety with any semiauto.

Trim all cases to 2.000" for first load and trimming probably won't be needed. They shouldn't grow more than .015" to the maximum of 2.015".

I have the RCBS AR series SB 308 dies and only load due to my PTR 91 being a glutton who will put anyone who has an all you can shoot ammo buffet out of business. I don't reload the fired cases it ejects due to the amount of brass deformation caused by it. I haven't had any problems chambering or failures to feed using the dies I have. This is not to say or claim that they are the best only that they are working for the PTR 91 I have to feed on in between cases of cheap Russian ammo it likes too. I believe that if made in 308 win. Ammo it would like turnip greens for that matter.
