One party IS anti-gun. They say so every chance they get. I'm just taking them at their word.

If somebody screams at me every day that they're going to take my guns and would be happy to kill me (with nuclear weapons if necessary) to do it, why would I doubt them?

To all those wanting to vent your decades of frustration, believe me, having lived in California for 40 years, I UNDERSTAND and FEEL YOUR PAIN.

But this is 2019 headed to 2020.

With Democrat controlled House, we are faced with likely the biggest battle with our war with the anti-gun crowd. We NEED to inform and alert every gun owner what the anti-gun crowd is wanting to do which is fully imposing on our minority rights by banning guns. You read that right, not "gun control" but "gun ban". Believe me, you will soon hear the chatter of wanting to ban semi-auto anything because they can kill more people than revolver/lever action.

I believe gun rights issue is now past political parties and no longer partisan issue. It is a personal rights issue of self defense and self protection. The anti-gun crowd is trying to "bully" the law makers into thinking they can "impose" on our rights. This is the very reason why the founding fathers chose "Constitutional Republic" as the form of our government so the will of the majority could not be imposed on the rights of the minority.

If you are pro-2A, consider extending your hand to anyone else who is pro-2A, regardless of their political affiliation and start talking how to fight the war against the anti-gun crowd. Because anti-gun crowd don't care who you are or what your political affiliation is. They just want to take your guns away from you.

I titled the thread "Re-training of firearms related information" because I believe we need to retrain how people view gun rights as personal right to self defense and self protection but in the context of 2019 headed towards 2020.

Black Guns Matter is doing just that. They are educating people most affected by gun control to defend their lives. Gun rights is a REAL issue for them just as our founding fathers were faced with will of Great Britain imposed on their rights to be treated as equal British citizens.

Watch the video again and "retrain" yourself how BGM is doing something about anti-gun crowd regardless of their party affiliation. He is teaching to create new "Freedom Virus" to spread the 2A word. We have to do what the anti-gun crowd have been doing to us. They have been lying/tricking people about 2A. We must educate ourselves and others to show where they have been lied to and tricked. Help them reach all 50 states.

Sadly you can't vote Democrat and claim to be pro 2A.

Actually in 2016, I have had several life-long Democrat voting gun owners tell me they voted for Trump in support of 2A.

To my shock, my parents who voted Democrat all of their lives, voted for Trump.

They live in a county where budget cutbacks reduced the number of Sheriff's deputies and Sheriff asked the citizens for their help. My parents attended gun safety training classes and along with their neighbors purchased guns for carry and actively conduct "neighborhood watch like" monitoring of their neighborhoods.

I have helped them video record (zoom on cellphones are great for this) unfamiliar cars/drivers (They live on dead end street where neighbors know each other) and their monitoring efforts have led to alerting the Sheriff's department and resulting in catching thieves who have been stealing from the neighborhoods.

Since you bring up JFK I assume you realize that he would be kicked out of today's Democratic party in about 2 seconds. I have been trying for 20 years to explain to my FIL that today's dem party is not the party of JFK. Are there pro gun Dem politicians? Of course there are. Do they have a prayer of winning their presidential primary? Not a chance in hell. In case you Democrat voters out there haven't noticed, your party is now dominated by Socialists. And YES they want to disarm you. I will keep my other comments about their agenda to myself as this isn't the place for that.

You're welcome brother. Just want to keep it High Road and show respect to ALL of my THR family. Something I've noticed is slipping here a bit recently.

I don't "claim" to be pro-2A -- I am pro-2A. And I also plan to vote Democrat in the next election. It's an absolute necessity to remove the worst president in American history.

Some things, like the fate of the country, are more important than guns.

So which Democrat candidate are you going to vote for?

And how will that candidate preserve and forward the Second Amendment?

They say it's a free country, therefore, you can vote for who you want. I will vote for who will most likely improve my bottom line. I no longer believe this country can be saved. I wonder what the votets will do when elected politicians will have to raise taxes to save Social Security.

Without widespread civilian firearms ownership there won't BE a country as we know it today.

It's more than passing strange that you'd vote for people eager to give future presidents an absolute monopoly on the means of armed force.

One reason is that the erstwhile pro-gun Democrat voters have fled en masse to the Republicans. This is the chicken-or-the-egg problem. I'm not sure anything can be done to reverse this.

It's a matter of damage control -- determining which candidate would do the least damage to the 2A. There are no good choices on the gun front. All I know is that I'm not going to vote to re-elect Trump. (And in case you haven't noticed, in addition to all his other failings, he hasn't been very good on the gun front either.)

Many of us are "left-behinds" like myself.
My father's family had been Democrats since Andy Jackson was a general.
    No longer.

Pure discussions of the positive or negative qualities of the Lesser of Two Evils outside of the firearms issues is not for THR. Nor is discussion of the possible Evil to be selected by the Democrats. Get my hint.

Vote Cthulhu - I still have my t-shirt.

How about, "There is no party that represents me.
I have become a skeptic, in training to be a cynic."

I judge each person that wants to represent me on his or her own merits.
If that person says, "vote for me because of my party", I look at the next candidate.

As expressed by moderator GEM, here are partial listing of THR forum rules of conduct - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?pages/code-of-conduct/

"1. All topics and posts must be related to firearms or 'Right to Keep and Bear Arms' (RKBA) issues.
    4. Spamming, trolling, flaming, and personal attacks are prohibited. You can disagree with other members, even vehemently, but it must be done in a well-mannered form. Attack the argument, not the arguer.

We have learned from bitter experience that discussions of politics, abortion, religion, and sexual orientation often degenerate into less-than-polite arguments or claims that 'my God is better than your God'. For this reason, we do not discuss such subjects on THR.

The High Road is private property and requests that members adhere to all forum policies. It is a contract agreed to by all who become members of The High Road. Those who break forum rules cannot invoke censorship or freedom of speech - a contract broken is a contract broken. If you do not like the rules of conduct or the acceptable topics, seek out a new venue to frequent or start your own board."

So let's get back to the original intent of this thread:
Yes, for decades the anti-gun crowd has spread not entirely accurate information regarding firearms. Well, we don't have to keep taking it sitting down. There are many pro-gun people really frustrated by passage of recent gun control laws and want to "Do Something".

We can counter by spreading accurate information regarding firearms. We can start educating firearm owners to better engage potential future firearm owners (The younger VOTING generation of Millennials in their 30s and Generation Z in their 20s and teens). We may even engage anti-gun people and when presented with factual accurate information, they may change their mind and become pro-gun.

I have been engaging people about need for gun ownership all of my life. I grew up and lived in high crime cities overran by gang violence, rape, robbery and murder. When federal judge ruled overcrowding in California prisons and released inmates to communities, even the anti-gun crowd got affected and many of them became gun owners and some asked me to train them. And I provided (even using my own ammo) defensive point shooting every time as outlined here - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...defense-situation-video.849479/#post-11091007

    Things HAVE changed.

But one thing has not, which is the ultimate goal of the anti-gun crowd - GUN BAN.

So we must find allegiance with every other gun owner who support the Second Amendment and join forces to fight back against the anti-gun crowd and law makers backed by them.

TOGETHER, WE MUST VOTE OUT ANTI-GUN LAW MAKERS AND VOTE IN PRO-GUN LAW MAKERS!

We are at war fighting for our rights to keep and bear arms.

For those who believe things are too late, have hope. Just yesterday, a federal judge ruled in favor of normal/standard capacity magazines of more than 10 rounds for California - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/ca-mag-ban-unconstituional.849632/

    Things CAN change.

And growing number of people from all races, parties, gender, sexual preference, socio-economic classes, religions, etc. are becoming gun owners EVERYDAY!

If people are becoming gun owners everyday, then can also become supporters of the Second Amendment and this is were we come in, to properly educate and train them.

And why I started this thread.

So, let's keep our discussion focused on proper education and training of gun owners and future gun owners.

This is why I support "Black Guns Matter" movement as they work to increase presence in all 50 states. Their goal is to provide firearms safety and training to urban America in support of the Second Amendment. If you haven't, watch this video and consider supporting their (our) cause. Thank you and Godspeed!

Here's a good resource from Tom Given's superb TacCon this year. It's an evaluation of the state of the gun world:

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ssbk54zjvOJuPYAcDkFnnQUNQ_NaNzWV3u7mCh7g2c8/edit

    Summary:

    Another from John Farnam:

Farnam once spoke highly of me at an old NTI, he's great.

Thanks to bds for his quite thorough analyses of the current RKBA situation even if his more positive about the Lesser of Two Evils than I am.

What else what you have them do? The party most certainly doesn't want them. It certainly doesn't want me.

    Good infomation.

Ultimately, we are all in the same 2A lifeboat. We can discuss, argue and beat each other with the oars while sharks circle the lifeboat or we can start paddling together so we can get to distant landmass we see on the horizon.

Will all of us be happy together while we paddle towards the same goal without disagreements or arguments? Heck no. We are human. My wife alone can manage to piss off anyone without my help.

When my wife hired a "lesbian" housekeeper/dog/chicken sitter, I went "That's interesting". (I grew up in LA and "diversity" was part of life) But when she showed up wearing a Navy cap and when she found out I was an Army medic and she was ex Navy, we nodded our heads and shared an instant military comradery. We talked and laughed about how a female company in basic training exceeded our "male" expectations and excelled in some of the training while kicking our "male" company's butt (Being out-marched while wearing MOPP suit drenched in sweat is humiliating but they earned our collective male respect and our approach to them thereafter changed. And at rifle range, they shot with vengence and fury. I would not want to be on the receiving end of their bullets. :D). Of course, when it came to guns and 2A, we were on the same page and have plans for "couples" range trips.

Many progressives and liberals I taught defensive shooting vehemently disagree with me on many issues (If they did not, I would not respect them and vice versa) but when it comes to gun rights, we are crystal clear on what needs to be done and that is keep voting in pro-gun law makers and voting out anti-gun law makers. Period. Will there be some hiccup along the way? Sure, that's life. But if we stay the course, we will all get there together.

Elections have consequences. Federal judge overturned CA ban on higher than 10 round magazines - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/ca-mag-ban-unconstituional.849632/#post-11093453

The federal judge who ruled in favor of higher than 10 round magazines for California was Bush appointee but Trump has appointed many pro-2A federal judges since the election. So keep that in mind if you are struggling to vote for Trump in 2020 (And we have yet to see who the Democrat presidential candidate will be and what their plan for 2A will be).

Who knows, tide may be turning in courts for 2A and other gun control laws may be overturned/end up in Supreme Court.

Good video discussing the latest pro-2A ruling on overturning 10 round magazine and other rulings. Good comment on judge's application of "common use". Yes, this is for California of all places, so there's hope for other states.

Time to start "retraining" ourselves and others on application of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Vendors have started shipping higher capacity than 10 round magazines to California.:thumbup::thumbup:

    Spread the word.

And educate/retrain each other that gun control laws CAN be overturned!

In that very first video, the woman claimed to be pro-gun THEN she said she had voted for "Hitlery".
Either she is delusional or she is a liar. Or both. "Pro-gun" and "Hitlery" are mutually incompatible.
