Please follow the link or read the below for a brilliant way to fight for our 2nd Amendment rights that requires little effort. You can make a difference now.

http://www.righttokeepandbeararms.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=327

Many of you will remember a couple of years ago when the crisis de’ jour was the rampant flood of illegal aliens into this country via our southern border. The majority of Americans were sick of it and wanted something done about it. Anything. Polls showed overwhelming support for a wall but Congress sat on their hands. They probably still would have never done anything about it had it not been for a little campaign called “send a brick to Congress”. Tens of thousands of folks mailed a simple brick to Washington D.C. and it was by far the most powerful message ever sent to the politicians to BUILD THE WALL. It worked. It worked beautifully in its simplicity. It got press and it grew legs and more and more people sent in their “contributions”. It had never been tried before and hasn’t been tried since. Well we are going to borrow a little thunder from that movement to add to our own idea and we are going to wake up the politicians in Washington D.C. who have sworn the oath to uphold and defend the Constitution but seem to have forgotten what we feel is absolutely the most important part: namely the 2nd Amendment. So here we go:

Starting Tuesday, January 20th, 2009 and every Tuesday after that, we, and that includes you, will vow to send a specially prepared 2x4 emboldened with the 2nd Amendment to a particular individual of our (collective) choosing. We will call this campaign:

2x4 Tuesday

Every Monday, a new individual will be chosen to receive this friendly reminder. Every Tuesday, without fail, we will mail this helpful hint and delivered every Thursday (give or take a day) we will urge, in our own special way, this individual to remember those most important 27 little words they swore to uphold. We will do this in a very specific way as to let them know, without a doubt, that we mean business and we will continue until all of them have sufficiently stimulated that portion of the brain that remembers such a brief but the oh so important statement of:

A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the RIGHT of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

It seems so simple to us but apparently it is difficult for some to understand that it does not state anything about being “reasonably infringed” or “common sensically” infringed. It says SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED! Let’s make sure they see the light and help them understand.

Here’s how you can help. Many of you have come forward and told us that you want to help in any way that you can. We are going to take you up on that offer. As you realize, everything costs money. We certainly realize it here at RIGHTtoKeepAndBearArms.com so we have come up with a way to raise much needed funds and you have a way to help us with our campaign of 2x4 Tuesday. We will make available to you, for a $5 donation to the site, a set of six placards to be attached with staples to a simple one foot section of a common 2x4. Once attached, it makes an attractive, home made, solid wood desktop paperweight. What a perfect gift for these busy little bureaucrats who have such a hard time remembering this individual right. Here is what a sample will look like:

Image

They fit perfectly on a one foot section and that is important so that we can all say, with a common voice: “We cut off a foot to save our Arms”. That can be the rally cry of this campaign. We can all mail these special desk ornaments in the FREE 15”x11.5” Tyvek Priority Mail envelopes available at every local post office or available FREE online here: LINK

The mailing labels are also FREE and available at the post office or online here: LINK and sent directly to you at no charge.

Priority Mail is the way to go as they can deliver your 1.25# “statement” from anywhere in the lower 48 states to Washington D.C. in about two (plus or minus 1) days for a cost of $4.80 to $8.25 and do it repeatedly every Tuesday for you. We want you to include a handwritten letter with each "present" you send. We will supply you with some boilerplate letters to use for ideas but it will mean much more if every letter is unique in it’s own way and follows a few simple conventions.

First, it needs to be short and to the point. Keep in mind that the person you are sending this to is so elite that they almost NEVER open their own mail so you will actually be writing to their aide who simply keeps score of the issues for his or her boss. As was said in another thread, The K.I.S.S. principle is best and 3 paragraphs is entirely sufficient. In the first paragraph, tell them what you are going to say. In the second paragraph, say it, and in the third paragraph, tell them what you said. Long diatribes do not even get read before they are thrown away. Always be polite as an armed society is a polite society, never swear, and if you must threaten anything, make sure it is only that you will work to vote them out of a job if they cannot fulfill their oath to uphold the Constitution. Sign off with something unique like “Yours constitutionally", or "Voter #277,453" (pick your own number between 1 and 300,000,000. Also, very important - Mark the envelope "Personal and Confidential" in the lower left hand corner and always ask for a personal reply in your letter. You probably won't get one but it will be just another example of them not doing what we, their employer, ask them to do.

So, for about $10 a week, less than many people spend on lottery tickets or a couple mocha frapachinos, you can help save the 2nd Amendment with a lot more chance of return on your money and a lot less fattening than expensive coffee.

As soon as you put your first custom built paperweight kits together and insert one into these slippery Tyvek envelopes, you will see the beauty of this gift exchange. Getting one in the mail from a constituent would be curious (a snowflake). Having a mailman bring a box full of these will be an event (it’s starting to come down hard). Imagine a USPS dump truck delivering a 1000 or 10,000+ of these every week to one lucky participant in the governmental machine who desperately needs a little reminder that We, the gun owners of this great Country, will not be ignored, not be forgotten, and certainly will not stand for any more of the “common sense” legislation that makes absolutely no sense at all and goes against every grain of intent of the Founding Fathers who worked so hard to make the 2nd Amendment so easy to understand and timeless in its relevance. This is our avalanche!

Are you with us? It will only take a week or two for them to realize we are serious. The press will catch wind of it and have to report it. More will join in the campaign. It will be mentioned on popular programs like Glenn Beck, Neal Boortz, NRA News, Sean Hannity, and even the Godfather, Rush, at which point we fully expect our servers to crash but do not fear, we will revive them and this 2nd Amendment Movement will become so popular that no one in Congress or the MSM or Hollywood will ever again doubt the fervor and passion of the most determined group of individuals on this planet – the freedom loving and 2nd Amendment protecting, do something don’t just sit around and succumb to tyranny, armed and informed patriots of today. If we can associate a simple non-threatening block of wood with an armed voter and let’s face it…most of us own more than one of the 80M+ firearms in circulation, so that every time one of these anti’s looks at a framed house on their way home from work, they shudder to think of all of us voters watching every vote they cast and every backdoor deal they make against us. When a short section of wood = firearms owner, then, that is when we can march, with a 2x4 at "arms", in lockstep with all of our brother and sisters at "arms", make an extremely powerful statement while breaking no laws, carrying no weapons by definition, threatening no one and needing no battalion of lawyers to defend us, to leave our mark on the ignorance and downright freedom hating and endless unconstitutional law making machine that the government that is supposed to work for us, not against us, has become.

Are you with us? Let’s make Mondays a day to look forward to so we find out this weeks "winner" of reality, Tuesday a day of action, Wednesday the day we report in to assure our numbers are strong, Thursday the day of reckoning for the uninformed, uncaring, and unconstitutional and Friday the day everyone else in the machine wonders who it will be next week.

Are you with us? If so, send us a donation of $5 for a month and a half‘s supply of the greatest Amendment ever written. Pick up a 2x4 stud at your local home improvement store (or in this case, a life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness store) and cut it into one foot lengths, and pick up some free envelopes and mailing labels from your local post office and you have the entire kit to get ready for the “giftstorm” starting on January 20th that is going to change the way some people, who rule incorrectly, think. This is our plan, this is your movement, and it will be their lesson. Together, we are one.

Are you with us? Donations can be sent to RTKABA P.O. Box 911 Smithville, MO 64089. Order now and be sure to include your return address and we will get your 2x4 “enhancements” out in time for the first mailing come January 20th, 2009 and every week thereafter.

Are you with us?

I like the idea. Is anybody here a member over there? Are they worthy of trusting with my $5? A utility grade 2x4 is something like $1, so the biggest cost by far would be postage. I'm in if enough folks are gonna do it to make an impact.

I understand you can get a flat rate envelope for $4.80 that the 2x4 will fit in. I hope enough people will actually DO it so it can be as effective as possible. These politicians that WE employ NEED to know we want our rights!

Fruitless effort. After the brick stunt, congressional mail is now sorted off site to prevent protest parcels (bricks, 2x4's, etc...) from hindering congress.

This hypothetical lunchtime conversation between Dianne Feinstein and Ted Kennedy suggests the most likely outcome of this campaign: "Ted, you know what those frikkin' gun nuts are doing now? Sending me pieces of wood. God, I hate those guys."

Tim

I bet you're right, Tim. But I also bet they won't say, "Ya know Teddy, I haven't heard much out of those bitter clingers lately, maybe we COULD get away with that handgun ban. You wanna go to the pool later?"

Suit yourself. But recognize that you're simply engaging the postal equivalent of a crank call to get your message across.

Tim

When I started reading, I thought you were taking about a 2x4 flashcard, not 2x4 lumber. I think it would be more effective to send actual mail. A postcard stamp is 27 cents, and you could print 6 postcards to a page using card stock paper (which they sell at Staples and Office Depot).

If you want to make an actual difference, by targeting legislators who care, target your state senate and state house of representatives. A US senator gets a thousand letters from regular constituents and his staff won't even bother to inform him. A state senator gets a thousand letters and he'll spend a week preparing the letter he sends back to each one.

Exactly. If every 2x4 sender spent 5 minutes writing a thoughtful letter defending the Second Amendment instead of spending 5 bucks on a cheap stunt the impact would be significantly greater.

That is hilarious. Do ANY OF YOU that are posting or reading here on THR, actually believe our elected officials give a damn about ANYTHING, We The People, want?

Seriously, it doesn't matter what it is, they do whatever they want and then they get re-elected for it. Pathetic and hilarious. The only thing more screwed up than our federal politics, is our judicial system. Whether it is the 2nd amendment, illegal immigration, bailouts of every type, or anything else you would care to name, tell me ONE thing our Congress has done in decades that has bettered our country.

I like the 2x4 idea, these people don't care about emails, postcards, or any other written correspondence. Bricks or 2x4's up the side of the head would be the most effective.

I am in, i think it will make a great statement ,,far better than any other mail,,need to get this info to all the other boards, regards,,bill b

My thoughts EXACTLY. Letters don't work, and calls definately have no effect.

Thoughtful, rational and polite one-page snail mail letters have proven to be the most effective lobbying effort from "little people" and "just folks".

Staffers look through emails and FAXes--and, see the 2x4s--and comment sarcastically to the Boss about what the idiots are babbling...
