Recall campaign in Colorado

What I'd REALLY like to see now is a successful grass roots movement to recall Bloomers.

He had a bad day, poor baby…

At the end of this term he will be going out of the picture with a new mayor being elected. Yesterday they held a Democrat primary.

The candidate he supported to succeed him lost… Big time too.

The one that won ran on a platform of reversing much of what Boom-brain had done, saying that he’s created two New York Cities, one for the rich and well placed, and another for everyone else. He promised to bring this to a halt. :uhoh: :)

Then came the news from Colorado….

It's enough to get them sweating bullets and every dime they spend during a recall campaign is money they can't spend during the next election (yes I know they're all rich).

Spending money is a two-way street. Never forget that they have access to a lot of it in California, especially Hollywood.

We need to concentrate our resources on battles we can win, and not go out tilting windmills. The next important and critical contests will occur during next year’s mid-term election. Now is the time we should be getting ready.

Recall campaign underway in Colorado

My most sincere and hearty congratulations to the people of Colorado. I didn't think it was possible and I couldn't have been more wrong. I am extremely pleased to eat crow on this one and hope it sends a message to every gun grabber in this Country.

What bothers me about a politician like Angela Giron is that she feels that she will keep fighting rather than representing her constituents. So after all that it took to get elected, her being on the incorrect side of gun control upset voters so much so that the voters considered her unfit for office. It’s a message that she fails to understand. :banghead:

Taken from the above link: According to unofficial results, voters in Colorado Springs favored recalling state Sen. John Morse, the body's president, by 51 percent to 49 percent. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, state Sen. Angela Giron of Pueblo was defeated in her recall election, 56 percent to 44 percent.

"We will win in the end because we are on the right side," Giron said in her concession speech.

I was at the February (I think) Town Hall meeting that Giron hosted to talk about her vote on the gun control issue. Instead of the usual 50 or so people, over 1000 showed up.

We listened to the usual blather: "These bills will save lives" and "I respect President Obama". She didn't hear a single word any of us said.

She interviewed with the local paper the next day and bragged about how she had "stood up to the pro-gun people".

She is either bought and paid for, or totally clueless, or both.

Good riddance.

Congratulations to Colorado

I was glad to see the results of the recall campaigns in CO. But I also saw the reactions and, as predictable, both vow to keep up the fight against the evil NRA and gun owners. So a fight has been won, but unless that level of enthusiasm and effort keeps up through the next election, and the next, and the next, the anti-gun gang will be back, well funded and peddling their lies and hatred.

I did not get to vote, but I'm so proud of my brothers and sisters in Teller and Pueblo counties that FIRED the two anti-gun DLPs. Now the governor needs to go!
I give kudos also to the GOA, the NAGR, the RMGO, and the NRA for helping out in Colorado and keeping everyone focused on the election.

I have to agree with HKGuns who thought it couldn't be done here in Pueblo. Considering that every single step of the process had to go perfectly before the election could even be approved, I'm amazed the recall didn't get blown out of the water early on. It was like watching someone thread 15 consecutive needles all at once. I worked at one of the polling places during the election, and kind of kept track of the Dem/Rep/Ind ratio in my head, and if things had gone strictly on a party-line vote we would have been crushed. Right up until we finished counting the votes I was pretty sure the recall was defeated, but it was nice to be proven wrong in the end. What I'd like to see now are more detailed figures that show how many Dems and Independents voted for the recall, because they're the ones that won this thing for us, and I think it proves that 2A issues aren't (or shouldn't be) always partisan in nature.

And yes, the fact that Giron is "perplexed" by the results just makes me laugh out loud!

I'd like to believe that we are witnessing a sea change in how voters view the big gov nanny state mentality and are finally fed up.
I know a little of Pueblo politics from friends of mine that grew up there and I was shocked at the result. For those who don't understand, I would say Pueblo could be called the Blue Collar Boulder so this recall was significant.

One question I saw asked but could not find an answer... (My apologies if I missed the answer)

When do these two 'former' Senators actually lose their jobs? I realize they lost the recall, now when do they get evicted from their offices?

^^I believe each is out of a job the moment his or her (un)election results are certified.

Good on ya, Colorado.

As of last night's 6 O'clock news Agela Giron is refusing all interview requests. I imagine she is sitting at home shoveling in icecream and sticking pins in a Voo Doo doll of George Rivera

Haha yes I bet she is curled up on her couch in a moomoo downing ice cream and watching Lifetime as we speak.

:)Good old Pueblo! I grew up in C.Spgs. and often heard Pueblo referred to as 'Pewtown' (steel mill) or worse (ethnic slurs). When I graduated high-school in '63 I wanted a bit more so I enrolled at USC (formerly: Pueblo Junior College) and took all of the tech/core classes to obtain a teacher's degree. I thought I wanted to teach Industrial Arts). At any rate, though I only finished 2 years, the time there allowed me to get to know many of the Pueblo 'natives' and become familiar with the city and it's ways.
To this day, Pueblo would be my choice if ever I relocated to the Eastern Slope - Pueblo is a great town! :)
