I currently load 230g LRN with 3.8 to 4.0 grains of Bullseye for plinking.
Will this work for pin match or should I increase the charge?
Bullseye is the only powder I have at the moment.
230 LRNs is the only bullet I have at the moment.

swc will (grab) the pin better.
i shot mine out of a 625 with 5gr of ww231 under em .
this combo would slap em off the back of the table !!!

i use my buddies home-cast .45acp boolits....265gr LRNFP (its basically a .45LC bullet), under 5.2grains of W231 (i've actually begun using Bullseye for all my .45acp loads, so i'll update later on with results from that).

needless to say, if i hit the pin anywhere but the outside edge, it landed ~ 10ft behind the table :)

avoid using round nose ammo, as you'll be more likely to spin the pin like a top if you dont hit it perfectly centered. SWC's or flat-point bullets would work well. just remember mass is KEY! the heavier the bullet you can run, the better!

missouri bullets make some 240 gr that will shoot out of the 1911 and they're actually marketed as pin busters.

I use 5 grains of Bullseye under a 230 FMJ Rainier and it puts a hurting on those bowling pins!

4.0 Grains will still wallop the pins but if you are shooting just hard cast lead then I wouldn't go too much hotter for fear of leading the barrel.
