I am bringing my Mossberg 930 to the range for the first time and would like recommendations on slug loads for practice that will cycle reliably and not break the bank. The range is 50 yards and targets can be set up at any distance; advancing is also permitted (when no other shooters are present) for tactical drills. I plan to shoot at all distances using paper targets.

Thanks very much.

My 930 JM-PRO I use for 3 gun does well with Fiochi low recoil slugs. Bulk ammo.com sells them.

I have had really good luck with the Rio Royals and the Fiocchis. Inexpensive, both offer low recoil and full power options (full power best for semi-autos), with excellent accuracy and terminal performance.

Another good idea is to get 5 or 6 different brands and do some accuracy testing to find the best combination of accuracy and cheap :).

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

I bought a case of Kent 3" 10 point and really like them. $60/100 and very accurate on of my Maverick 88 with 18" ic HD barrel.

Try a bunch. Never know which ones might turn out best. But...

Best slugs over several guns for me have been Federal Truball and Brenneke short mag.

"advancing is also permitted." Sure hope your the only one firing on a "hot" range.

Is that an NRA certified range? Just wondering.

I like Tru-Ball, it functions my son's 1100; I shoot it out of an 870. We usually use Hornady SST 2 3/4" for hunting though.
