Red Ryder 111 model 40 - date? Value? Source for parts?

Hi everyone,
First time posting here, just helping out a friend with a project, this was his grandfather’s BB gun and he would like to gift it to his son in working order.
From what I have been able to find out online it seems this gun was made before they started stamping the lot/date codes on the receiver. Is there any way to get an idea of the year this was made?
He has no intent on ever selling this gun but would like to know roughly what kind of value this would hold? It has a great patina on it and very little rust for the age of it. No dents or dings, furniture is in great shape with a visible signature stamp under the logo.
However it is MISSING the shot tube & cap along with the trigger return spring. Does anyone have any of these items kicking around that would fit this model??

It dates to 1947-'50.
