Apparently one of the six Little Ralphie's “official Red Ryder, carbine action, 200-shot, range model air rifle, with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time” has been found and is in the museum.

I'm working on my brother's .30 muzzle loader squirrel gun and I asked if he wants one of those compasses in the stock. I'm also thinking of laser engraving the sundial; but that would be in the waay of a any patchbox.

That would be pretty cool on a muzzleloader…compass and sundial on one side, patchbox on the other. With a little work you could even make a recess in the patchbox to hold a fancy gnomon for the sundial.
Hope you post pics when you finish this gun, sounds interesting !
