Redding Profile Crimp Die

I've been reloading straight wall revolver/pistol rounds for years using carbide three die sets from Lee and RCBS.

I recently bought a Redding Profile Crimp Die for the .32 H&R Magnum. The directions recommend using a case lube.

I don't want to start lubing straight wall cartridges...

What do you guys think? About the Profile Die? About Lubing it?

Really? I never lube them with my Redding Profile Crimp dies or any other crimp die.

Did you get a die set and the sizer isn`t carbide? or does it specify lubeing the crimp die?

I`m with Walkalong, I`ve never lubed any crimp die........

I've been reloading .32 H&R Mag for a number of years using first a Lee carbide set then a Redding Titanium Carbide Set. I wasn't real happy with the crimps using either set, so I splurged and bought a Redding Profile Crimp Die.

The instructions included with the Profile Die say:

"Although case lube is normally used on regular seat dies it is advisable on taper crimp dies or profile crimp dies, because there is there is sliding action at the taper."

"A little lubricant will go a long way. We recommend a a small amount of case lube near the case mouth (at the crimp) applied every few rounds. Another method is to apply case lube directly inside the die at the taper with a Q-tip. We recommend Redding case lube because of its strength."

So, there's my issue.

I use carbide dies so lube is not really required. Even so, I find that a couple shots of One-Shot makes everything work a lot smoother.

I changed to Redding Profile Crimp dies for .357 Mag, .44 Mag, and .45 Colt from Lee FCDs and like them much better.
