Okay guys,

It was raining here today, and I am bored.

So, I made up an Excel Worksheet to calculate the cost of reloading, given variations in price/quantity of all normally associated components (powder, primer, brass, bullets, and any specified number of brass re-uses).

I'm trying to figure out how to put this online for everyone now, but I'll gladly e-mail it to any of you if you'd like to use it!

I'm sure some folks have done this before, but I didn't see any FREE Excel sheets that met my desires (ie: Ability to run two side-by-side scenarios, and to compare the cost with factory made ammo).

If any of you have suggestions for putting this online, just let me know (I don't have a personal web page, but I do have a photobucket account, if that would work?).

In the mean time, just respond if you'd like me to e-mail it to you... With all of the good advice you guys have given me, I thought I'd try to give something back! :)

After years of reloading, I simply do not care what it costs per round of whatever. I know it is cheaper than I can buy, even when using premium bullets.

True.

But, most of the reason I did this was to compare the costs of different reloaded ammunition (powder cost, grains used, bullet cost, cost of a casing weighted over it's useful life, etc).

Admittedly, some of my shooting is higher volume, so cost does become an issue to some degree (even if it is cheaper than factory ammo). It doesn't take too long to burn through a case of .223 (AR-15) or any given pistol cartridge for me!

Guess maybe I'm the only cheap-bastard still shooting these days? All the same, just thought I'd throw the offer out there! :)

SSN Vet,

I just e-mailed you a copy of the spreadsheet! I hope it works well for you!

Please drop me a line if you have any issues with it!

There's one already posted in the tacked threads up top:

But more is always better. Thanks for the effort!

Never even saw that one!

Kind of glad I didn't know about it at the time, or I wouldn't have bothered to entertain myself on Excel today. Mine is a bit different, and is set up so you can easily prepare the difference in cost between two different sets of components.

I need to keep building on mine, to make it pretty like the other one :)

I did one of these for fishing and hunting. It calculated that my venison was about $118/lb and my fish was about $200/lb.

I don't want to 'ruin' another hobby...
