Reloading Press Ram Shield

I had some folks asking how to keep the ram of their press clean of primer grit and grime. Forgive me if one of you came up with it, because I don't remember where the idea came from, but I used one like this years ago on my RCBS press, long before THR came to be. It has to be removed before priming with the press or you can use some other method of priming.

Hey this was a quick cut job....

Photo #1 shows how the shield was cut out of a coke can.

Photo #2 shows how it is wrapped around the ram, the little center tab goes into the primer arm slot to deflect the primers and grit into the catcher.
You may have to trim the tab to get it to fit right, but the tab needs to be as wide as the primer arm slot. The better the fit in the slot and the tighter the fit around the ram the less grit gets on it. It was held on with a rubber band somehow.
