I was reloading .223 rounds today. I loaded probably 100 rounds and then looked and say that I had been using CCI Small Rifle Magnun 450 primers instead of my usual CCI Small Rifle 400 primers.

Right now, I have 100 rounds with CCI SRM 450 primers, 24.5 grains H335, and a 55 grain bullet. Are these safe to fire or should I pull all the rounds that I made? Thank you.

My apologies. I meant 24.5gr H335. I edited and changed my original posting. Is this still too close to substitute primers? Thanks.

Factory load data says 22.5 grains as max.

What are you firing it in? I think it would be OK, but you're still over the 10% threshold from the max.

Hodgdon goes to 25.3 with the other 55 Gr bullet. You'll be fine. Speer #13 goes to 26.0 Grs with a Mag primer. I have used more than that in .222 Mag with no problems.

If there is any doubt AT ALL, pull 3 or 4 of the bullets, drop the charge in those 4 rounds, and work back up to the original load .2 tenths of powder at a time for those 4 rounds.

I am shooting it in a RRA Entry Tactical LAR-15. My bullets are 55gr FMJ. Thanks for the replies thus far. From the sounds of it, the reloads with the magnum primers should work. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

Great idea, Duck.

My Sierra, Lyman, and Speer books say your OK, although your at the upper end of the max load. Only my Hornady book says your over the max(23.2). I have gone as high as 25.2g. of H335 with good results but that was with Rem. 7 1/2 BR primers.
