I plain on making my own cases from 223. Know all about that, my question is which bullets to use... 309 diameter or 311 and downsize? Even heard some guys use 308 but then you need to crimp well, but I am planning on getting the Lee FCD anyway.

Who has some actual experience? Thanks.

PS Saw that Missouri Bullet has a 115 ground 309er... too heavy?

I use .308" 110gr bullets marketed for .30 carbine loads. Bought a whole bunch of the Rainier plated ones that I used quite a bit.

I did once order a batch of the Horandy XTP .308" bullets that I loaded up and they shot fine too, but for plain old plinking they just cost more.

I like the Hornady 30 Mauser .308 86 gr RN
bullets. One note if you have problems with the rounds chambering in your gun there is a simple fix. Remove the decapping pin form the sizing die and run the finished round back thru the die to reset the shoulder of the round. That will usally fix it. If you are going to use 223 Brass I would recommend that you use Lake City brass, it seems to be about the brdt to use.
