I own a Savage 220 with which I've slain many many deer and other critters.
I love it and will always keep it.
My only complaint with it is that the bolt handle can slip up with little to no pressure and I missed a huge Buck this year because of that.

I also have a Super Black Eagle 2 and Benelli supernova for turkey hunting and all-around shotgunning.

So I'm thinking of getting the above-mentioned Remington 870 SPS Super Mag Sure shot but I only want to get it if I can interchange the barrels to have both the turkey pump-action shotgun and the version for deer hunting.
But from what I read the deer hunting Slug Barrel is pinned to the receiver.
so I'm guessing that means they're not interchangeable which seems like a ridiculous mistake on Remington's part.

Or are they interchangeable? If I could get the gun and just have to buy one or the other barrels I probably would spring for it.

so I'm asking whether that's possible and what experience you all have with this model and if it's worth the money.

Secondly with the other two excellent slug gun and smoothboars that I have does it make any sense at all to buy one of these?

It's been several years, but I've owned an 870 Supermag and the original Nova both at the same time. No longer have either. They both do the same thing, as does the SBE. I don't see where you'd gain anything over what you have except spend money.

The slug barrel for the Supermag is pinned to the receiver. I haven't seen one in person but would doubt they are interchangeable.

Quote from Remington:

Because barrel stability is key to extended-range accuracy, this shotgun’s barrel is of extra-heavy, 1" diameter configuration and measures a full 25 1/2". It’s also pinned to the receiver to control vibration for rifle-like, shot-to-shot consistency.

That sounds like a good idea if you want more accuracy with slugs. Anymore it isn't economically feasible to try to buy 1 shotgun and multiple barrels. The 2nd barrel will cost almost as much as just buying a 2nd shotgun, which is what I'd do.

You can buy an extra slug barrel and it will not be pinned, thus will interchange easily, and there are so many barrels floating around for 870s that they are not outrageous. I am not talking 3-1/2 inch chambered slug barrels, because I don't think it's needed.

Pinned in this case is simply a screw in the left side of the receiver to lock the back of the barrel to the receiver. By eliminating (pinning out) the small amount of movement allowed in the rear of the barrel in regular 870 you increase the accuracy of slugs. To remove the barrel requires only the removal of this screw and then the gun takes down like a regular 870. So with this screw removed it would accept any other barrel made for the 3.5 inch version of the 870.

Far be it from me to discourage the purchase of another gun, but why not just get a slug barrel for the SBE or the Supernova?

To be hyperbolic, because they cost as much as two of the guns they go on and they are unobtainium.

More seriously, they are really expensive. Like $400+. I think Carlson makes them for the Nova at a more affordable price. Not sure about a rifled slug barrel though.

Benelli factory barrels are not commonly available but they are out there. They seem to have short production runs and varied availability of different gauges and configurations.

Even if I bought that Barrel it's not a fully rifled barrel and it wouldn't be milius accurate are long range as the super slugger.
I'm leaning towards buying the super slugger in the dear version than getting an after-market 870 20 in Barrel for turkey hunting with it.
Or not buying anything at all.
