Since I no longer live in "Shotgun only" deer hunting country, I'm wondering if it's possible/practicle to have my 870 Slug gun threaded to accept the RemChoke system. I know I could simply buy a new barrel, but then I've got a slug barrel sitting around that would likely never get used. It's a 2 3/4" chamber and it seems that everyone wants the 3" nowdays, so I have my doubts I could sell it.

Having a barrel fitted for aftermarket choke tubes will depend mostly on the barrel itself. If the barrel is 2 3/4" only it is likely an older barrel, and most of them had pretty thin tubes. It might be possible that RemChokes would fit, but that would be up to the shop doing the work. There are some aftermarket 'thin wall' tube systems that might be installed if the barrel was too thin for RemChokes. Again, that would be up to the shop doing the work.

Cost is likely to be $100 or more plus the cost of the tube/tubes you choose. Not an inexpensive proposition.

I use Colonial Arms ( http://www.colonialarms.com/index.html ) for this sort of work, there are others who do a good job too...
