Remington makes a .308 diameter 30-carbine bullet weighing 110grains. Do you have any of these projectiles on your bench??? If so, do yourself, and me a favor and measure them! I have almost 1500 pills and every single one of them I spot checked is showing an actual diameter of .3065''! The ONLY reason I checked was because I was getting some really weird chrono readings while trying to load them at sub-sonic velocities for a 300BLK bolt action...WHY I'm doing this is besides the point ;)

It took 2 MORE grains of H4198 than I'm loading my 220SMKs with, to get the 110s up to and around ~1000fps....so with about 10grains my 220s are averaging right around 1020fps, but the 110s required 12grains before they even broke 1000fps! Would I be right to assume that this is exclusively because of the smaller diameter allowing gasses to escape past the bullet while pushing it?

My guess is your using the wrong powder for a 110 gr bullet. See Hogdon website for data and the correct powder. Trail Boss

Ok, so the smaller bullet diameter and the fact that it takes MORE powder to get a bullet weighing half of a 220 up to speed is irrelevant? We can just sum it all up as 'the wrong powder'?
