Just added this Remington 1858 to the stable, Walker for size comparison. I wasn't in the market for another 36 but I was so impressed with the Uberti 1858 Navy that I had to have it. Fit and finish is perfect, about the only thing I could fault if the reddish vanish on the grips, but that is minor IMO.

Nice Pair

I love Walkers and have a real thing for the Remmies.

Mine is an Old Pietta Safe Queen from 1976, in .44 Cal. Someday she might get a range trip but I'm in no rush. Lots of people buy these things never fire them or take a few range trips, stick them away for a few decades and later on they or the family sell them. I don't have any modern weapons that fall into the Safe Queen category but have found myself sitting on some old replicas that may very well continue to be just that. There are a few others who are going to pay some dues. Choice it's a wonderful thing.

Enjoy the Remmie and the Walker. It's all good stuff.

Ruger Old Army Stainless

Good luck.

I have a couple of ROAs. I've always felt that Old Bill Ruger took a Blackhawk and made his own version of the Remington from it. They're some well made made beasts. Purists criticize it for not really being a replica of an original but.. it has a history of its own. They're both keepers.

They're available out there but... but the prices are up there. Gun Broker can give you some ideas.

It's Cavet Emptor as usual. I've been lucky so far there and on these forums. But you've no doubt been down those roads too.

Thanks, yeah buyer beware, I'm too picky for my own good, so I usuall only buy in person. Beautiful Rugers you have there, I'll keep looking, I know the prices are up there but if you wanna play you gotta pay:)

:D
Until this year I have never bought a firearm that I haven't held in my hand first and checked out. But when it comes to Black Powder here in Columbia, SC the selections are really limited to only one gunshop, a Sportsman Ware House that only sells Traditions (Piettas). Some of the private sells I checked out hadn't been taken care of, were shot to pieces and way over priced. So I had to branch out a bit. As far as paying to play.... you betcha. I'm not cheap, I'm just not easy.

I changed out the Ruger Picture and posted one of a Remmie and an ROA in stainless.
