Stopped by during lunch with money in hand, after calling first :cuss:but to no avail. He only had Gen 1 models left. He will order me one, should be in next Tuesday. However, I will don't be back in town until late next Friday. Work trip next week. I did order dies. I didn't want to order too much else until I held it in my hands.

Congrats!

Shoot it and report back. I would like to regain confidence in the Gen2’s.

Sold my 5R gen2 in .308 as it did not meet my expectations. My buddy said that I could have polished the feed ramps as the bullet was scratching the cerakote finished into the chamber especially with the otm bullets. Not sure if that was the impediment or just a lemon rifle. Too late for that as I sold it. Would like to get a good Gen2.

I did kept the the gen1 bought years ago.

I have a Gen1 in 308 that shoots sweet. I will do some loading setup today and hopefully made a dummy round for testing.

Can anyone confirm, esp those that work at the Arms, that the B stamp on barrel implies a barrel by Boots Obermeyer?

My Gen 1 has a “B” stamp on the barrel. The Cerakote may have obscured it a bit. I bought it way back, when the interweb (net) was still a Ford Model T.

I can ask my friend who works at the arms about the "B" on the barrel. I will text him right now. He gets off work in another hour.

My friend used to work the 700 line. He thinks that line is moving to Huntsville. He works on the Marlin line right now.

Thanks. Good info on the R700.

No wonder the Marlin line just got better with the finish and fit with your friend working there. He took my money. Lol. Relay to your friend that I just bought a Marlin 1895 in 45-70. Keep it up!

Oh, my friend also had me check all sorts of things on the 700 for quality. Like bolt feel, finish, trigger pull, to name a few but they are mostly basic. He said they are making .357 Marlins like crazy.

Also said they were making some with threaded barrels. Anyhow back to topic. I loaded up a couple dummies rounds to test cycling and adjust the dies. I will load up a couple (2) in the morning with some AA4350 and some 168 Grain SMK's. I have a bunch of 308 bullets mostly between 150 and 168. I will get some 180's I think for it. I will load them on the low end just to test function and shoot them with no sights in a safe place.

I am going to use a Vortex Viper Scope PA scope I took off my AR10 when I sold it. I will mount it as soon as I figure out what which base to buy and what height. Thinking about a DNZ mount like my other milspec and Model 7.
