I just bought a remington 16 guage shotgun and i am not sure of the year also i am trying to figure out what the extra code on the barrel means.
The barrel says 16 ga DG 3 XE mod
thanks for any help
The code with the 3 behind it (DG) is a factory repair date stamp. The other (XE) is the original assembly date.
So...
XE = December 1936 and DG = September 1938 (or 1960, I'm not sure when Remington would have stopped repairing the model 11 after it was discontinued in 1948)
