I am trying to figure out the year of manufacture of my Remington Model 11, ser # 4909xx. I found this resource for determining year of manufacture on the Remington Society of America website ........
https://www.remingtonsociety.org/manufacture-dates/
..... which references letter markings on the barrel. The letter markings on mine look like an "A M". That would put it at either March of 1965 or March of 1992 ...... which isn't right, as I believe Remington Model 11's weren't made beyond about 1950. Then, the more I looked at the "M", the more it looked like an upside down "W". But there isn't an "AW" code shown on that Remington Society sheet that makes sense either. I'm pretty sure this is a WWII era Model 11, but the date letters on the barrel aren't making sense to me. Any of you Remington experts able to shed light on this? Also, what do the anchor marking and the little star (?) marking - both to the right of the letters - mean? Pics attached.
