Well weather wasn't permitting until yesterday afternoon and even then it started to rain on me and my son when we went out shooting.

Since my last reply, I bought a metal carnival type of target made specifically for the .22. We set it up yesterday out in a huge field with a good backdrop and ended up shooting about 250 rounds through Dad's ol' .22. We had a blast, and even started hitting the targets at 50 yards, after I finally took off the scope. My eyes are really bad for long distance, but I was even hitting it too.

My boy out-shot me, which really impressed me, but I should be receiving my new glasses sometime this week, so I should do better after that. I was very surprised how accurate and easy this rifle was to shoot. Like I said... We had a blast. No pun intended!

Mikey!

Sounds like the heirloom 66 got the perfect father/son workout. You couldn't have honored your Dad's memory any better. No new rifle ever made can do that. Glad you're enjoying it.

Hey Red,

You are sure correct about that. Even though I had to guess where I was shooting, I still did ok. The fact that my son Kicked my butt was awesome too! I had to just stand there with my chest out and think to myself... "The kid can shoot!" :what:

My daughter is 6 and she is going to inherit this rifle. I have some other stuff for the oldest three boys, so this goes to her. I can't wait until she gets big enough to hold it properly, so I can teach her to shoot. She has a BB gun now and does ok.

I need to buy a .22lr for my 14 year old boy who is mentioned above. I think he would excel as a marksman if encouraged properly. Plus then we could shoot more often together. I am currently looking for one for him, but I haven't decided yet which one he is going to get.
