Killed piles of stuff w reg Wingmaster and Express.
While the Police guns are cool w smooth walnut buttstock and slotted forend,
I experienced no problems with the "lesser" guns.

Had a few RKW finished Magnums.
There's an older less glossy 870 Magnum 12 at my LGS.
Tempting just because..........but I'd rather have an 1100 Magnum, shiny.
But then I have one, a Special Piurpose 1100 Magnum (they parkerized).

In my era all we ever had were basic Mossbergs and Remington's in riot configuration (18-20" barrels, simple bead sight, and four shot tube) - all in blued steel. I retired out in 1995 (1973-1995) and never saw the first "Police" marked Remington 870 - all of ours were simply marked as Wingmasters... chambered for 2 3/4" rounds... and they were utterly reliable - and brutally effective within range...

That's what the top one is, with my added upgrades, 2 3/4" chamber and plastic stock and foregrip, that I replaced for practical defense use.

I noticed nobody has mentioned the FACT is that the POLICE 870 ,,at least thru the 90s was assembled on a special line, with higher quality control standards and a couple very subtle changes to springs and I believe shell stops and extractors . I know this not cause I have seen it my self, but because I have trusted Armorer and buyer friends who have witnessed it. The line for the law enforcement guns was in a separate area too.Can I get a witness ? :)
