Remington Serial Numbers

Doing some research on a couple model 700 Remington's I picked up. The new Remington company says they don't have any records for anything prior to the sale.
Just wondered if anyone knew if the serial number database was retained out there somewhere?
I can narrow down build dates by barrel codes. Only way to get exact build dates is serial number?
Pardon me if this has been covered. I searched back but found nothing.

The barrel date code gets you within a month. That is probably as accurate as you'll get with a SN.

Remember, sometimes parts are made and sit in a warehouse for quite some time before being assembled into a firearm, sometimes years. That includes parts with the SN on it.

It's a BJ barrel code that has me sorta stumped. Not sure if it's a 1962 or a 1989.
The other has a barrel code of OG. got that one figured out right away.

There is another problem with the barrel date codes. You can very easily swap one barrel for another. I know because I had one factory barrel swapped with another that had better rifling.
