I presume everyone here is aware that by Executive Order on July 23 2016 the definition of Gunsmithing was changed- To keep it brief, if you do any sort of machine work, even making a replacement part that is otherwise unavailable, you are now a 'Firearms Manufacturer'. That means you must have a license and insurance. For those of us who are hobbyists, this is an overwhelming financial burden- Over $3K a year. There is a petition to have gunsmithing removed from this at Whitehouse.gov. I hope you will take the time to sign and share.

Done--6,000 signatures, requires 100,000.

The OP's user name is almost exactly how I describe the chances of the WH paying any attention whatsoever to this petition, even if ten million signed it. :cuss:

Why are we signing a stupid Obama petition (I really hope Hillary or Trump does away with this stupidity ) instead of getting congressmen to draft a letter, or better yet, some legislation & hearings? I'd love to have Kerry dragged in and asked point-blank to answer our many questions about the implications of this power grab, at the very least, and I feel we are owed that much seeing as we're expected to live under them going forward.

Thanks to all who have signed and shared. I agree that for the most part we are just fooling ourselves to think that anything would actually come of it. However it is better to grasp at every last straw than to resign ourselves to defeat. You should keep bugging your Senators and Congressmen, maybe one of them will decide he needs your votes bad enough to take up this crusade. The Nation we know is on its last legs. 'Our' Government doesn't even bother concealing it's contempt for the people or it's corruption any longer. We have lost both our own voice, and the voice of the Media. Those organizations are firmly at the beck and call of those in power. And the American people are too 'comfortable' to do anything but sit back and watch it all be taken from them. A study of those nations who have had successful revolutions, succeeded because the power of the media was on their side. Without the media's support, anyone who rises up will just be labelled as a 'crackpot' or 'wacko' and the sheeple will just keep marching straight to the slaughterhouse.

Well, seeing as that's the actual remedy for this situation, I say we try it :p
