Ren Wax is very good and I use it, especially on pistols.
But, what works as well, and especially for shotguns is Mother's carnauba car wax and it smells good too! Give great rain protection for wood as well as metal. It's a bit quicker to apply. With Ren Wax, if you let it dry too long it can be a bear to polish off. Mother's is very easy to apply and polish off.
But, Ren Wax is an excellent product.
