I have put 2000+ rounds of cast bullets through a Storm Lake barrel without any problems.
I bought a 9mm Storm Lake barrel for a G23 (40sw) as it has traditional rifling that is better for shooting cast bullets.
I polished the feed ramp and rifling, only because I could.
The chamber is tight so I push the bullets through a .356 Lee sizing die before loading.
Cast bullets are sold as .356 diameter but are most often oversize.
I've read of others returning barrels to be reamed bigger because of tight chambers with the Lone Wolf drop in barrels but I found that sizing the bullets eliminates chambering problems.
I like the Storm Lake barrel and believe this barrel is stronger because the outside diameter is the size of a 40sw barrel.
Well I purchased a barrel from another maker ( close to home)not very impressed with the quality.Seeing what looks like a arc burn from their rifing process(I won't mention the name til I have had a chance to talk with them tomorrow.I will let everybody know the name and how their customer service realy is!
Well I talked with Fire Dragon last thursday, received my replacement barrel yesterday. This one looks like the quality I was looking for.So far pretty good service, seems to care about their customers.
Well not as good as i thought,Barrel locking lug broke after 100 rounds. This was after having to take it to a gunsmith to repair the same type of arc marks on the crown. We shall see!
