I'm looking at rescoping my Remington 700 LTR with some more appropriate glass for the kind of shooting i do (it's got a VX-II 3-9X40 on it currently).
The scope mount i have on the rifle is one piece, and is set up for 1" scopes.

The kind of shooting i do, match wise, sometimes includes a mover at 600 yards, and also includes quickly shooting targets at ranges as short as a hundred, and as far as 800, though the latter case is rare.

I'm looking at two types of scope for this application;

1. Dial based BDC scopes; these are better on the mover, because don't need to remember where to hold on elevation while holding for lead, but they're also slower to change distance and can be left on the wrong setting.

2. Reticle based BDC scopes; harder to use on the mover, but much quicker to use on stationary targets, you don't have to fiddle with knobs to change distance.

For the former type, i'm looking at the Leupold Custom Dial System 3.5-10X40mm, since it has the BDC elevation knob, and a capped windage knob.

for the latter type, i was looking at the pride fowler RR-600-1 3-9X42. It has reticle based BDC out to 600.

Am i going about this completely wrongheaded?
