In response to my comments on 'common sense' gun laws.
Brackets are mine.

Dear [name],

Thank you for sharing your views on current legislation concerning firearm regulations within the country. I appreciate you taking the time out to share your views with me.

The recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, the terrifying Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting, and the horrifying circumstances surrounding Representative Gabrielle Giffords has generated a significant amount of debate with regards to gun control legislation and related policies in our nation. We simply cannot tolerate this type of violence any longer. Historically, gun control issues have always been a controversial matter. Though I believe the Second Amendment acknowledges an individual's entitlement to bear arms, I also encourage rational gun control laws and regulations that help assure the safety of all Americans and keep our communities out of harm's way.

The Constitution has been the cornerstone of our nation for over 200 years, and we must always be mindful of its tenets. Just like the freedom of speech, the right to bear arms has always been subject to reasonable restrictions by Congress. I believe Congress has a responsibility to balance the right-to-bear-arms with the concern for public safety and stability.

Rest assured that I will keep your views in mind should Congress consider related legislation in the future. Again, thank you for contacting me about this important matter. I invite you to visit my website, castor.house.gov, for issues important to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Kathy Castor
United States Representative
Florida, District 11

So she "respects" the 2nd Am. but is somehow clueless about that "shall not be infringed" part. I cannot understand how so many politicians read the words "shall not be infringed" and either do not understand what those words mean or believe that restricting that right is not "infringement". Even the Supreme Court seems to have a problem with reading comprehension.

You will get a lot of non offensive, evasive answers right now, from all of them who you write to. They aren't stupid and don't want to ruin their re election chances by telling you how they really feel.

I've contacted Ms. Castor on a number of issues since her election to the House and I've found it to be waste of time. Upon her election to the House Nancy Palosi declared her a raising star and Castor has followed Palosi's lead ever since.

having said that I continue to write her letters and email her and call her office and offer my thoughts on issues.

Wrote to her 3 weeks ago on gun control but haven't received a reply yet.

Same here; guess she ignored me because I'm not in her district (I'm sure the pro 2A message I sent didn't help either).
