So I fired my first ever 18 rounds of hand loads (7mm Rem Mag, 150 gr TTSX) and I still have my hands and eyes. Shot six 3 round groups at 100 yards. I generally I had more horizontal stringing on groups which I will attribute to not being behind the rifle on the bench (it was jumping right with bipod and rear bag). I need to work on that. One group had some more extreme vertical stringing which was I'm guessing was a soft rear bag that the stock sunk into on recoil. My best group was .51" at 62.9 grains of H4831SC, so that is what I'm going with for this year's deer hunt. I loaded 32 rounds and will be shooting at distance this weekend to get some shots out to 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards to verify where my limits are. So, without further ado, here are my pictures of results of what I did in the reloading room yesterday (actually last Friday)... 7mm Rem Mag 61.4 Grains.jpg 7mm Rem Mag 61.9 Grains.jpg 7mm Rem Mag 62.4 Grains.jpg 7mm Rem Mag 62.9 Grains.jpg 7mm Rem Mag 63.4 Grains.jpg 7mm Rem Mag 63.9 Grains.jpg

That’ll be good on everything from coyotes to moose, a very versatile load indeed.

Looks like you’re ready for the hunt, good luck .

Stay safe.

Went to a friends farm and shot at 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards with the 62.9 grain load. I borrowed a friends chronograph and was getting about 200 fps less than what the Barnes load data predicted (assuming a relative linear relationship for velocity from their low charge to max charge). A little disappointed with that. Accuracy was about 1 MOA at all distances, with more horizontal spread than vertical. I thought I was controlling recoil pretty well. Lost track of rounds shot on one group and fired on an empty chamber and didn't flinch, so that is good. Thought is was a primer strike, so that stopped me for a few minutes before I opened the bolt and peeked at an empty chamber :uhoh:. Conditions were not ideal; low light. rain/snow and shooting was a bit rushed due to daylight fading fast (a good way to unintentionally replicate hunting I guess), so I'm confident with my shots if the opportunity presents this Saturday. Any thoughts on the velocity issue? My O.A.L is 0.320, or 0.080 longer than the Barnes data. My barrel is 24 3/8". IMG_0119 - Copy.JPG

Don't know what the Barnes book has for FPS I'm guessing in the 3200 range. I was getting 3067 for an average with 5 shoots with a high of 3117fps loaded with IMR 4831 65gr. Temp was 55° and pressure was at 30 in Hg. I also like IMR 7828ssc 68.7gr with TTSX 150g. And I was getting an average 3155fps
