Reviews on Howa Rifles?

I'm mebbe looking for a .223 bolt gun. Budget is an issue. Local store has a Howa for $350? Can't remember exactly. Anyway, how good are Howa rifles? I'm not familiar with 'em. Bonus points for replies from actual Howa owners.

[Edited to add this will be a walk-around varmit gun. Weight is also an issue--no 28" heavy bull barrels. This Howa is a sporter.]

Owned a Howa in .308 about 10 years ago, gave it to my son. Gun was no tack driver, but was fine for deer at up to 200 yards IMHO. Fit and finish were good not great, in short a good, functional deer rifle. Gun was imported by Mossberg at that time, also has been imported by Smith& Wesson. Howa makes or made Weatherby rifles.

I have a weatherby vanguard which is a Howa from Walmart in .270 Win.
Its pretty well made has a decent trigger, and is hunting accurate.
Compare it to a plain jane remington and you will see the diffference in the metal work and the fit of the parts (hint: the Howas much better), if you do a web search you will find folks who make custom rifles out of the Howa actions.

Mine came with a 1.5" 100 yard 5 shot group guarrantee, that if you use any decent factory hunting ammo it will do at least that well.

My remington 700 adl did not come with any accuracy guarrrantee.

Ya Ive got that Weatherby in 270 win.
I love it. Crisp trigger and everythign fits me great. I would not hesistate to get another. Probably the best bang for the price

I have 2 Howa built rifles,does that mean double bonus points? The first was a Weatherby Vanguard in 30-06.The second is a Howa stainless 22-250.The Howa I bought last year has a better trigger than the vanguard did out of the box and you can cycle the bolt with the safety on.The vanguard has to have the safety off;but not for long,I see timney is making triggers with a 3 position safety.I haven't adjusted the trigger on the Howa 'cause it's fine where it is.

I'm happy with both of them and if they made their ultralight in a stainless/synthetic combination I'd add another one to my collection.

I have a Mossberg 800 ASM (Howa) in .308. It's a good rifle; I get about an inch @ 100 with factory ammo. Only down, is the trigger is non-adjustable and about 7-8 lb's. I suppose the new ones are a completely different rifle though.
