Revolver in "xXx"

Okay, unless my eyes are off, does anyone else think the revolver in xXx is a highly modified Taurus .44 Mag.? I think it's a model 27, not too sure...
There's what appears to be a Trijicon dot sight on top and CTC (Crimson Trace Corporation) laser grips. The barrel and muzzle have to be custom, unless someone knows better. The other thing I looked for was the cylinder catch. The S&W's have one that's almost at a 45 degree angle, but in xXx, it's almost vertical (checkering, that is...). That kicks out S&W, Ruger and possible Colt. I rule Colt out due to the cost of a double-action Colt revolver .

Anyone else have a guess, or am I pretty close?

The muzzle brake had a definite Don Golembinski (Kodiak Precision) look to it. It was definitely a S&W 629. Hokey stuff he should of had the russian's race gun.

I haven't been able to find anything on the 'net about it. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough for it...
I read about a .40 pistol Kodiak did a while back, built on an SVT frame with the full-length dust cover, huge magazine, nice looking pistol. I'll keep looking, but I agree. xXx should have been carrying something more "high tech".

Exactly. There's no way you could fire a paint dart out of a .44 Mag at anywhere near full-power. It'd have to be a squib load at worst. The knockout darts would have to be dang near nothing but an empty case and a primer, or the dart would go through the skin at point-blank range.
Of course, this is Hollywood we're taking about, here...

UPDATE...
I just got a reply from Dan Golembieski at Kodiak Precision, stating that he personally didn't work on the revolver in xXx. Not sure if Kodiak sold someone the barrel/compensator, but Don himself didn't build the gun.
Anymore bright ideas?

I thought it was an older S&W M629. My reservation is that the cylinder may have had more than 6 shots. That means it could have been a 686 or a Taurus.

BTW, didn't really enjoy the movie which was an excuse for stunts. Really can't complain though as I saw it for free.

Looked like a 629 race gun for ICORE competition. I kinda liked the "versatility ammo" used. Not too far fetched. And ANYTIME a sixgun takes an auto's place in a movie is a delight to me...

(Who knows, maybe Miculek designed one for them?)

I think X had a revolver because in some things he was more old school. For example his love for the vintage car instead of the ultra modern Euro options.

The Gun used in XXX was a heavily modified version of the Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 629.

No info on who modified it, the sights were C-More systems sights.




They say it has a serrated blade below the barrel....but as a knifemaker I beg to differ.....that isnt a serrated blade anymore than I am monkey. The pic below will illustrate my point.

There's no grind or bevel to the edges of the "blade" on the bottom...in fact it looks rounded. Its pretty obvious to me....maybe I should work in Hollywood. Hahahaha.

As I was scrolling through this post, I was going to suggest that one go to the Internet Movie Firearm Data Base to find the answer, and lo and behold, I get to the point where somebody beat me to it.

Interesting to see that even with a C-More, they kept the iron sights on it.

Still, it's interesting (and laughable) to see what Hollywood does to guns to make them look like more than they actually are.
