Revolver on duty!

Real cops carry revolver.

I've known quite a few real cops, and deputies, who carried 1911s...myself included. I've known my share "real cops" who carried Glocks mandated by their department.

Revolver guys can shoot.

I spent the last 6 years before retiring as my department's chief firearms instructor. The Sheriff's Dept. was about 60-65% semi-autos, all 1911s except for two deputies who had SIG 220s. The remaining 35-40% revolvers, either issue M-66s or their own personal weapons. Routinely over the 6 years, I had more revolver shooters in remedial qualification training that semi-autos.

My Grandfather and my father both carried revolvers in police and ranger service, my dad
was in one shoot out and my grandfather was in at least 3 and got wounded in one of them.
I carry a 19-5 in 4" for some reason, I guess imprinted or something.
I miss both those old fellows.

It was common humorous trope back in the 1980s when most departments switched to automatics yet some dedicated revolvermen kept there six shooters. Them guys could shoot.
Yea, so much so that the average hit probability back then with a revolver was only something like 20-25%. :)
