My girlfriend's father has an old double barrel shotgun laying around. It's a percussion fired black powder shotgun. The only markings on the gun are on the sides right above the triggers. It says "Richards London" on it... no other markings at all. I've been able to find information about W. Richards of London, but most of the shotguns I've found are lever-breaking, and this one doesn't appear to be. They also have other markings on the barrel, which this one doesn't have. The diameter at the muzzle is about 20 mm, which, if I'm not mistaken, would make this a 10 gauge.

The gun is in pretty rough condition... the hammers are a little bent and the finish has seen better days, but I'm curious to find out some information on this shotgun. Thanks!

PS, I can post some pictures if it would be of any help.

Richards, W. Richards, Westley Richard, etc., etc., shotguns are not made by Westley Richards. They are cheap guns made and deceptively marked in the hope that somebody will confuse them with the real thing. Which is made in Birmingham, not London.

Sorry, but you can't tell your girlfriend that her Dad has a valuable antique.

Thanks for the info... I figured as much. It was offered to me but thought I'd check first to make sure it wasn't of any value. Should make a nice wall-hanger at the cabin.
