There's a little 100 yard range in Tuskeegee National Park, about 50 miles outside of Phenix City all the way down Highway 80. You've gotta buy a day pass from the Y's Grocery (I think it's like 2 bucks), but they've benches and six (I think) uncovered firing points. You'll have to bring something to hold your targets up though. I go there from time to time with some friends from work.
What kinda shootin' are you doing? If you shoot highpower, we've got a 300 yard range in Cusseta about 20 miles east of Columbus. It's primarily intended for competitive shooters; you've either got to have an NRA classification or shoot three matches to be eligible for membership, and it's $75/year after that. But it is a pretty nice range. I didn't know English was closing temporarily, it's been two or three years since I've last shot there. Why are they closing?
