Rifled Barrels Safe for Rifled Slugs/Shot

My dad is looking to buy a Mossberg with the combo barrel setup and he likes the idea of rifled barrels more than smoothbore but he doesn't want to be restrcited to just slugs. So, can you safely (without damaging the rifling over the course of use) fire Rifled Slugs and shot through a rifled barrel?

Certain ones can be shot through both barrels. For example Brenneke makes some.

It is safe to shoot shot through a rifled barrel but the pattern sucks most of the time it will throw a donut pattern

Sure you can shoot shotshells in a slug barrel, but as said the rifling will spin the shot cup and when the shot exits the muzzle it spreads like a bad rumor.

Also, rifled slugs through a fully rifled barrel will lead the barrel up.

Rifled barrels work best with sabot slugs. Smooth bore barrels work best with shot and rifled slugs.
