I just decided that I need to start reloading for my AR. I'm running a 1:8 twist barrel and the only way it shoots really well is with the stupid expensive ammo.

Anyway, I just ordered a set of dies, 500 primed cases from Scharch, 500 SMK 77gr projectiles and some other stuff to start loading.

I'm just trying to settle on a powder. I typically try to stick with ball powder because it meters so well in my dillon powder drop, but the results that I've seen other guys get at the range with RL15 in their .223s and .308s just can't be ignored.

So, my question is, have any of you guys dropped RL15 through a Dillon powder measure and if so, was it pretty consistent?

Is there a ball powder alternative to RL15 that will give me results as good as I would get with RL15?

Thanks.

RL 15 meters fine through Dillon's measures. Remember though, that there are weight fluctuations, as with any measure. If/when you plan on inching up to the hotter loads (like loading for the 600 line), weighing charges is safer, and I think should give more consistant accuracy, (elevation),at longer ranges. Good shootin'!
