Those who have "real" practical info, please give us the latest meaningful scoop.

Is the RM380 any good, or is it another example of the R51 ?

A local retailer is selling the RM380 for the same price as their S&W M&P Bodyguard .380, about $ 350.

How does the RM380 compare to the S&W BG, Ruger LCP, & KelTec 3AT ?

Thanks.:)

Brownell's has them on sale for $319.99 right now... I've seen a bunch laying around. Still haven't found anyone that's tried one though. I'm tempted.

I had an R51 and sent in back for the R1-1911, a good trade. Have a Sig P238 but wanted the RM380 since it was DAO. Have only put about fifty or so rounds through it with no problem. Fairly accurate and the slide is the easiest to rack of any of my 380's. The Sig is definitely a more pleasant gun to shoot, less recoil and a better trigger. I like the RM380 better than the LCP and P3AT that I've owned.

I've had one for about 5 weeks and two good range sessions (125 or so rounds). Mine has been completely reliable with 5 different brands of ammo; it's been as accurate as I would expect or require from a very compact pistol designed for close range in the first place. I like that it's DAO and hammer fired (for safety more than any double-strike capability), it's fun to shoot and doesn't beat you up. I would trust it as a carry gun.

I prefer it to the S&W Bodyguard as for me the ergonomics are much better and it's more fun to shoot than an LCP. I do have a SIG P238 which is a great little pistol but the SA makes it a non-starter for me for carry because of other carry guns I use and train with. My Kahr P380 is useful if I want to throw something but a round rock is better and more effective than mine is.

Be aware Smith did something kinda neat. They bought the Rohrbaugh gun company. That RM380 is almost a duplicate of the Rohrbaugh and it should run very well. They also bought Battenfield Technologies. They are going to ( if not already) buy Tri Town Precision Plastics Inc. And...........Thompson Center. I know some of this is old stuff but the holding company is really going whole hawg.

These are awesome little guns and extremely reliable. I own one and it's my favorite carry gun. I put three hundred rounds of all kinds of HP's and Ball including silver bear steel cased ammunition through my RM380 gun in one day and everything fed without issue. I did have one failure to ignite a primer on the Russian ammo but they do have very hard primers. I pulled the trigger a second time and it fired. This is not like the R51 at all. The R51 is a Paterson design handgun. This is a John Browning tilt barrel design and a whole lot better. They should have made this gun in 9mm instead of the R51 and they would have had a winner here. The trigger is a DOA only trigger similar to a revolver or the older Ruger LC9 but without the preset trigger. It's a DAO only gun but I have no problem with this gun at all. I just love it and it's all metal no plastic at all, with the exception of the grip panels. I applied some white nail polish to the front sight and it good to go. Great pistol! Red Cent I'm sure you meant to say Remington not Smith.

Nice little pistol and fairly easy shooting, the finish is just a flat black that shows rub marks, etc...probably will show som metal with a lot of use. Mine is accurate close in and will send tin cans spinning at seven yards, it is definitely not a target pistol. Mine travels in the pick up while my Sig P 938 is on my person, the RM 380 would be very easy to conceal. The pistol has much better feel than my plastic framed ones.

My RM380 has been flawless in two range trips for a total of about 160 rounds. Mix of FMJ and popular JHP rounds. I admit to having carried it when my pocket holster arrived, and I usually don't trust at less than 500 rounds. But it was 100% with variety and the function is smooth feeling and seems well built. I have actually considered buying a second one just to have.

"I think it rocks" :)

Rm 380

Mine works like it should.
Around 150 rounds some corbon HP.
No type of failure.
Like it alot same size as lcp but wider. Easier to shoot.
Long trigger breaks at very end of pull
finish is allready wearing off.
Regards
