I have a Glock 48 that I was thinking about putting a red dot sight on. I'd prefer a RMR sight, but the sight is a little wider than the slide. Would that be an issue or should I either stick with a sight that's the same width as the slide or put the RMR on my Glock 19?

It's a good question. With the popularity of narrower or slim single-stack 9's, I wonder what reflex sights fit them well. I do believe the M&P Shield has a reflex sight option from the factory, and if I'm not mistaken, so does the Springfield Hellcat. Doesn't the P365 also? I would think so. I wonder if those reflex sights are narrower than a "standard" width RMR, SRO, DPP, ACRO, etc.

Those sights are narrower, but the RMR is the one that’s been recommended to me by a number of people and is the one I’m leaning towards.

Glock needs to get on the ball and offer the 48 and 43X in MOS versions for people who want to go with the reflex sight option. I know I would be pretty interested. It's getting hard to see the sights...

I’ll eventually get my 48 milled and cerekoted. But I’m in no rush I’ll wait for all these thinner slide pistols to push reflex sight manufacturers to start competing and see which one seems the best.

the only one I’m familiar with (not personally just reading about) now for the thinner slides is the Shield sight.

Thanks for the responses. I should be receiving the 15 round magazines for my 48 soon. Assuming they’re reliable I’ll go with the RMR with the Suarez adaptor.

Mr. Psyopspec had the right idea (well, Gaby Suarez did first), because RMR is open on the bottom. The worst is going to be when your sweat gets by the little rubber gasket and into the sight. Trijcon actually sell a bit of a workaround, known as "the sealing plate". But it is very thin and may not work well enough on narrow slides.
