I finally broke down and bought my first 1911 yesterday. It is a used Rock Island A1 that the dealer said was a factory refurbished gun. The test shots were dated 11/26/06 so it is a fairly new gun. The gun didn't have a mark on it and i got it with crimson trace laser grips for $430. The new ones at the show were $350 to $390. Did I do o.k. for my first used gun purchase.

This is my first 1911 and I know there are a lot of accessories out there but I am not sure witch ones would fit this gun. Does anyones know any good websites for parts for this gun? In particular I wanted to get a trigger with the holes through it. I belive they call it skelotanized. I just think it looks really good. Also what mags would fit this gun. The factory one is a single stack 8 round. As you can tell I know nothing about 1911's.

I like to buy my parts from Fusion Firearms. You can find the parts on Ebay for some really good prices. High quality pieces, fast shipping and excellent service. This is the link to the Fusion Firearms Ebay store where you can see all of the auctions. http://search.stores.ebay.com/huntf...selZ293896037QQsatitleZ1911Q20triggerQQsofpZ0

If you want a drop in beavertail safety, check out the Wilson Combat 429bg.

Any parts for a 5" government (also called full size) 1911 should work. Just remember that even the "drop in" parts may need some minor fitting.

It sounds like you got a great deal on the gun. I have 2 RIA's and they have both been great.
