The Rock Island factories are just east of Manila and are roughly 40 miles north of the Taal volcano which is currently erupting with a lava fountain reportedly as much as a half mile high, and a huge ash plume moving north and affecting Manila and surrounding areas. Has anybody heard of any news at the RIA factories? Had this natural disaster impacted production? Supply? Export? Labor?

All flights out of a Manila airport have been temporarily halted at least once, and per the news today they have partially resumed. Do they ship by air or do they send frieght by ship? Ship seems a lot more affordable, but slow.

I suspect surface ship would be used, but cargo planes don't want to fly partly loaded so who knows.

Metro Manila is under an ashfall advisory and Armscor in Marikina is just about 5 miles east of Manila. Employees might have fled north up Luzon to get out of the ash.

Time will tell.

Volcanic ash! Think of all the polishing compound they are getting for free. Bet that will reduce the end price. Seriously though hope they are not adversly affected by this for the employees sake.
