I have never had any real desire to own an AK but now I do. On the muzzle the slanted muzzle brake/comp is missing and what appears to the the threaded piece has a small spot weld on bottom. What is missing from this (in pictures) and what direction should I take to either install or replace the compensator?

dremel the weld carefully, push in the spring pin and turn off with vise grips. i got luck and mine wasnt welded and i could actually push the pin with my finger and spin the break off by hand. no tools neccessary when i switched out my break. yours will be a little more involved

That could be done with a decent hand file also. Esp. where yours is welded. Remember these are REVERSE threaded.

Read up on 922r laws, (US Parts Counts) when modifying an imported gun, esp. AKs. Mine were the "Military Classic" that already have the slant break. Yours may / may not need to have more U.S. parts to do this per 922r depending on what was done prevoulsy, when & where imported. Also, check local laws, esp if you live in California, NY, etc.
